Unlabelled: Anterior mandibular dislocation (AMD) is defined as the displacement of the condylar head out of the glenoid fossa beyond the articular eminence, and that does not reduce spontaneously to its normal position. The Hippocratic method is the usual approach for condylar repositioning at most health centers although it is perceived by the patient as an unpleasant, brusque technique and outcomes are not always favorable.

Objective: The aim of this work is to describe a new simplified nontraumatic manual technique and its application in a series of cases.

Method: A procedure based on gently and constantly guiding the patient's mouth opening and closing movements is described in detail.

Results: Forty-two patients were treated with a treatment success rate of 100%, and no pain associated with the procedure. Procedure time was 1.5-7 min in 40 of the 42 treated cases.

Conclusion: The procedure presented here is an improvement on the original technique: it is simple, fast, effective, can be performed in any setting, and avoids use of brusque force, which is the factor that causes the patient most discomfort and fear.

Initiation and maintenance of neuraxial labour analgesia: A narrative review.

Best Pract Res Clin Anaesthesiol

September 2024

Department of Anaesthesiology, GZA Hospitals, Antwerp, Belgium.

Labour analgesia is a crucial aspect of obstetric anaesthesia, aiming to alleviate pain during childbirth while ensuring maternal and foetal safety. Over the past decade, advancements in labour analgesia techniques have evolved, impacting initiation, maintenance, and outcomes. We emphasize the longstanding importance of epidural analgesia while recognizing the growing significance of combined spinal-epidural and dural puncture epidural techniques for labour initiation.

Background And Purpose: To develop a new test to assess the motor coordination of the upper limbs, and to investigate the test-retest and inter-rater reliability, construct validity, standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable change (MDC), and the reference values.

Methods: The Upper Extremity Motor Coordination Test (UEMOCOT)was applied for 20 s, with the individual touching two targets (one right and one left) as quickly as possible, first with the hand (manual task) and then with the index finger (finger task). To test-retest reliability, the UEMOCOT was administered two times.

Background: Depression that occurs in pregnancy or postpartum (perinatal depression) impacts 1 in 5 mothers, yet access to effective and high-quality preventative interventions remains elusive for most. Digital interventions are a promising solution to this treatment gap because of the ubiquity of mobile devices and internet access. The Mothers and Babies Online Course (eMB) is an online adaptation of Mothers and Babies, an evidence-based preventative program for postpartum depression.

Exploring the Research Focus of RNA-Binding Proteins in Trauma and Burns.

Anal Cell Pathol (Amst)

January 2025

Department of Burn Surgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, People's Republic of China, Research Unit of Key Techniques for Treatment of Burns and Combined Burns and Trauma Injury, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, No. 168 Changhai Road, Shanghai 200433, China.

Trauma and burns are leading causes of death and significant global health concerns. RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) play a crucial role in post-transcriptional gene regulation, influencing various biological processes of cellular RNAs. This study aims to review the emerging trends and key areas of research on RBPs in the context of trauma and burns.
