The family Nemesiidae is the second most diverse family of Mygalomorphae spiders. (Nemesiidae) is commonly found in hilly areas of central Argentina. These spiders are considered generalists due to their basal position in the phylogeny, but little is known about the trophic ecology of the species. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to study some of the species' predatory traits, such as feeding frequency and prey acceptance, and to assess its natural diet. In addition, two parameters - attack latency and consumption time - were measured for each accepted prey. We found that feeds every two days and accepts almost all prey offered. The most accepted prey items were beetle larvae and termites. In fact, termites were attacked faster than any other prey, suggesting they are a suitable prey for these spiders. In regard to the species' natural diet, we found remains of seven prey items, ants and beetles being the most frequent. In this study, we found that is polyphagous since it accepts different kinds of prey.

This study aimed to evaluate the cholesterol-regulatory effects of lauric-acid-esterified octacosanol (LEO) and oleic-acid-esterified octacosanol (OEO) compared to their unmodified counterparts and to investigate the underlying mechanisms by partially substituting the fat content in obese C57BL/6J mice induced with a high-fat diet (HFD). Rice bran oil and coconut oil were also investigated as they are rich in oleic acid and lauric acid, respectively. The results showed that all supplemented groups significantly inhibited weight gain induced by the HFD, but the groups treated with esterified octacosanol exhibited a more pronounced effect.

Mycotoxin exposure from contaminated food is a significant global health issue, particularly among vulnerable children. Given limited data on mycotoxin exposure among Namibian children, this study investigated mycotoxin types and levels in foods, evaluated dietary mycotoxin exposure from processed cereal foods in children under age five from rural households in Oshana region, Namibia. Mycotoxins in cereal-based food samples (n = 162) (mahangu flour (n = 35), sorghum flour (n = 13), mahangu thin/thick porridge (n = 54), oshikundu (n = 56), and omungome (n = 4)) were determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.
