We compared the placebo response (PR) as measured by the Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA) and the Conners' Adult ADHD Rating Scale (CAARS) scores. A retrospective data analysis from a double-blind placebo-controlled study of metadoxine-ER in adults with ADHD. An additional database was used for comparison to TOVA response after methylphenidate challenge (TOVA-MPH-R). PR was highest when calculated from the TOVA-Attention Composite Score (ACS). The PR showed significantly fewer variables improving concomitantly compared with MPH-R. The most prominent correlation between the CAARS-PR and the TOVA-PR was in the Omissions score ( = .032), which was age-dependent ( = .0007, <.001). TOVA-PR has an index-specific profile compared with CAARS-PR and TOVA-MPH-R. The partial correlation of TOVA-PR with CAARS-PR suggests that a composite score of TOVA specific indices and CAARS could have a synergic impact to improve the reliability of the response assessment in adult ADHD.

Background: The effectiveness of intra-articular platelet-rich plasma (IA-PRP) injections for managing pain in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) remains inconsistent. Therefore, this study aimed to systematically review randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the efficacy of IA-PRP.
Methods: A total of 21 studies meeting the inclusion criteria were selected from various scientific databases, all of which compared PRP to either a placebo or an active comparator, such as corticosteroids (CS), in the treatment of KOA.

Background: Highly purified cannabidiol (CBD), recently approved for various neurological disorders, is explored as a potential therapeutic avenue for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) among adult people with epilepsy (PWE) in this systematic review and meta-analysis.
Objectives: To conduct an extensive literature review and meta-analysis of CBD use for DRE in adult PWE.
Design: Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Subjects with metabolic syndrome and obesity have higher levels of inflammation with depression of the vitamin D (VD) hydroxylase/metabolising genes () required to convert VD consumed in the diet into 25(OH)VD. Compared with total 25(OH)VD levels, measurement of bioavailable 25(OH)VD is a better method to determine the beneficial effect of VD.
Objective: This study investigates whether cosupplementation with VD and L-cysteine (LC), which downregulates inflammation and upregulates VD-regulating genes, provides a better therapeutic benefit than supplementation with VD-alone in African Americans (AA).

Purpose: We conducted a more comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of auricular acupuncture (AA) in perioperative pain management.
Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) findings were retrieved from the Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Wanfang, VIP, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases from their inception to March 2024 using the search terms "pain", "auriculotherapy", and "randomized controlled trial". The experimental group was treated with AA alone or in combination with analgesic drugs, whereas the control group was treated with sham auricular acupuncture, placebo, conventional treatment, or no treatment.
