Ventricle catheterization in the rat is widely practiced in cardiopulmonary research. The catheters deployed are either fluid filled or solid tip pressure or pressure-volume catheters. The access to the right ventricle is through the right jugular vein, most commonly without direct visualization such as fluoroscopy. Advancement of the catheter tip is aided by visualizing the pressure signals of the monitoring/recording systems used. This approach may present challenges due to various reasons, including the stiffness of new catheters, their dimensions or anatomical changes associated with the animal disease model. In this article, we present a novel approach, which has been optimized, successfully validated surgically and adopted in current projects. It has been shown to improve both the overall quality of the signals recorded and the time to access the right ventricle, thus reducing the overall time of surgery. The method presented in this article is safe, easy to reproduce and does not require additional skills compared to a more 'standard' approach.

Catheter ablation procedure for symptomatic atrial fibrillation is an established treatment. Cardiac tamponade is one of the several complications associated with atrial fibrillation ablation. We present the case of a 60-year-old male with a past medical history of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on hemodialysis, hypotension on midodrine, atrial fibrillation status post-ablation a week prior, and a cerebrovascular accident who presented to the emergency department with complaints of weakness, nausea, vomiting, confusion and some syncopal episodes for the past few days.

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) has emerged as a valuable liquid biopsy source for glioma biomarker discovery and validation. CSF produced within the ventricles circulates through the subarachnoid space, where the composition of glioma-derived analytes is influenced by the proximity and anatomical location of sampling relative to tumor, in addition to underlying tumor biology. The substantial gradients observed between lumbar and intracranial CSF compartments for tumor-derived analytes underscore the importance of sampling site selection.

Introduction: The docking button of the Aveir leadless pacemaker (LP) is occasionally difficult to access due to its inappropriate position in the right ventricle (RV).
Methods And Results: We report a case where the Aveir LP was successfully retrieved by releasing the wedged docking button in the inferior wall of the RV using a loop wire technique.
Conclusion: The loop wire technique may be useful to change the position of the Aveir LP.

A female adolescent with no relevant past history was admitted to the Pediatric Emergency Department with two episodes of seizures without trauma, fever, or other symptoms. Head-MRI revealed bilateral subependymal nodular irregularities lining the lateral ventricles, with similar signal evolution to grey matter, confirming the diagnosis of periventricular nodular heterotopias (PVNH). Genetic testing revealed a Filamin A ( variant; family studies were negative.

Secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) is characterized by a pathological process impacting the left ventricle (LV) as opposed to the mitral valve (MV). In the absence of structural alterations to the MV, the expansion of the LV or impairment of the papillary muscles (PMs) may ensue. A number of technical procedures are accessible for the purpose of determining the optimal resolution for MR.
