New magnetic iron oxide (FeO)/activated charcoal (AC)/β-cyclodextrin (CD)/sodium alginate (Alg) polymer nanocomposite materials were prepared by direct mixing of the polymer matrix with the nanofillers. The obtained materials were utilized as nano-adsorbents for the elimination of methylene blue (MB), a hazardous water-soluble cationic dye, from aqueous solutions, and showed excellent regeneration capacity. The formation of the nanocomposites was followed by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDX), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and adsorption of N at -196 °C. The rate of adsorption was investigated varying several factors, namely contact time, pH, amount of adsorbent and MB concentration on the adsorption process. Studies dealing with equilibrium and kinetics were carried out in batch conditions. The obtained results indicated that the removal rate of MB was 99.53% in 90 min. Langmuir's isotherm fitted better to the equilibrium data of MB. FeO/AC/CD/Alg polymer beads shows amazing adsorption capacities in the elimination of cationic dyes (2.079 mg/g for polymer gel beads and 10.63 mg g for dry powder beads), in comparison to other adsorbent materials. The obtained adsorbent is spherical with hydrophobic cross-linked surface properties that enable an easy recovery without any significant weight loss of in the adsorbent used.

Water pollution has become an increasingly serious issue, necessitating the design and development of more effective wastewater treatment methods. Chitosan-based hydrogels, owing to their unique structural and chemical properties, have demonstrated high efficiency in removing contaminants. However, the application remains restricted by the scarcity of effective adsorption sites and limited environmental stability.

Applying cationic waterborne polyurethane (CWPU) in the leather color-fixing process can improve the dyeing rate and enhance color fastness. However, under prolonged exposure to sunlight, CWPU will age and degrade and the leather will fade in color, become stiff and crack easily. In this study, an Ultraviolet absorber was introduced into cationic waterborne polyurethane (UVCWPU) and quaternary ammonium Lignosulfonate (QLS) was prepared by quaternization.

A straightforward and effective approach was introduced for creating a multifunctional cellulose fabric in this paper. The epoxy groups in epoxidized soybean oil participated in ring-opening reactions with hydroxyl groups present in cellulose fibers and amino groups found in polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride, respectively, under alkaline conditions. Polyhexamethylene guanidine hydrochloride could introduce cationic groups, while epoxidized soybean oil could contribute hydrophobic alkane chains.

Chitosan salicylaldehyde/calcium oxide nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO) was synthesized by hydrothermal process and isolated via different drying processes, namely, air-drying (AD) and freeze-drying (FD). The physicochemical properties of freeze-dried CS-SL/CaO nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO-FD) and air-dried CS-SL/CaO nanoparticle (CS-SL/CaO-AD) were compared. In particular, the adsorption properties reveal that the specific surface area of CS-SL/CaO-FD increased by ca.

Modifying ZnO nanorods with graphene oxide (GO) is crucial for enhancing photocatalytic degradation by boosting the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the reaction medium. In this study, we present a straightforward chemical synthesis of ZnO nanorods embedded on GO, forming a novel nanocomposite, GOZ. This composite serves as an efficient photocatalyst for the sunlight-driven degradation of methylene blue (MB) and ciprofloxacin (CIP).
