The development of Li-S batteries is largely impeded by the growth of Li dendrites and polysulfide shuttling. To solve these two problems simultaneously, herein the study reports a "single atom array mimic" on ultrathin metal organic framework (MOF) nanosheet-based bifunctional separator for achieving the highly safe and long life Li-S batteries. In the designed separator, the periodically arranged cobalt atoms coordinated with oxygen atoms (CoO moieties) exposed on the surface of ultrathin MOF nanosheets, "single atom array mimic", can greatly homogenize Li ion flux through the strong Li ion adsorption with O atoms at the interface between anode and separator, leading to stable Li striping/plating. Meantime, at the cathode side, the Co single atom array mimic serves as "traps" to suppress polysulfide shuttling by Lewis acid-base interaction. As a result, the Li-S coin cells with the bifunctional separator exhibit a long cycle life with an ultralow capacity decay of 0.07% per cycle over 600 cycles. Even with a high sulfur loading of 7.8 mg cm , an areal capacity of 5.0 mAh cm can be remained after 200 cycles. Moreover, the assembled Li-S pouch cell displays stable cycling performance under various bending angles, demonstrating the potential for practical applications.

Multicomponent reactions (MCRs), highly sought-after methods to produce atom-, step-, and energy-economic organic syntheses, have been developed extensively. However, catalytic asymmetric MCRs, especially those involving radical species, remain largely unexplored owing to the difficulty in stereoselectively regulating the extraordinarily high reactivity of open-shell radical species. Herein, we report a conceptually novel catalytic asymmetric three-component radical cascade reaction of readily accessible glycine esters, α-bromo carbonyl compounds and 2-vinylcyclopropyl ketones via synergistic photoredox/Brønsted acid catalysis, in which three sequential C-C (σ/π/σ) bond-forming events occurred through a radical addition/ring-opening/radical-radical coupling protocol, affording an array of valuable enantioenriched unnatural α-amino acid derivatives bearing two contiguous stereogenic centers and an alkene moiety in moderate to good yield with high diastereoselectivity, excellent enantioselectivity and good -dominated geometry under mild reaction conditions.

High-resolution fluorescence imaging of ultracold atoms and molecules is paramount to performing quantum simulation and computation in optical lattices and tweezers. Imaging durations in these experiments typically range from a millisecond to a second, significantly limiting the cycle time. In this work, we present fast, 2.

The floating phase, a critical incommensurate phase, has been theoretically predicted as a potential intermediate phase between crystalline ordered and disordered phases. In this study, we investigate the different quantum phases that arise in ladder arrays comprising up to 92 neutral-atom qubits and experimentally observe the emergence of the quantum floating phase. We analyze the site-resolved Rydberg state densities and the distribution of state occurrences.
