The rhizosphere, an important battleground between beneficial microbes and pathogens, is usually considered to be a good source for isolation of antagonistic microorganisms. In this study, a novel actinobacteria with broad-spectrum antifungal activity, designated strain NEAU-H2, was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of wheat ( L.). 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity studies showed that strain NEAU-H2 belonged to the genus , with high sequence similarities to NBRC 109807 (98.8%), A249 (98.6%), and NBRC 108799 (98.6%). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA, , , , , and gene sequences showed that the strain formed a stable clade with A249. Morphological and chemotaxonomic characteristics of the strain coincided with members of the genus . A combination of DNA-DNA hybridization results and phenotypic properties indicated that the strain could be distinguished from the abovementioned strains. Thus, strain NEAU-H2 belongs to a novel species in the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. In addition, the metabolites isolated from cultures of strain NEAU-H2 were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS) analyses. One new compound and three known congeners were isolated. Further, genome analysis revealed that the strain harbored diverse biosynthetic potential, and one cluster showing 63% similarity to natamycin biosynthetic gene cluster may contribute to the antifungal activity. The type strain is NEAU-H2 (= CCTCC AA 2018031 = DSM 109825).

Phage therapy uses viruses (phages) against antibiotic resistance. Tailoring treatments to specific patient strains requires stocks of various highly concentrated purified phages. It, therefore, faces challenges: titration duration and specificity to a phage/bacteria couple; purification affecting stability; and highly concentrated suspensions tending to aggregate.

Despite significant advancements with combination anti-retroviral agents, eradicating human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) remains a challenge due to adverse effects, adherence issues, and emerging viral resistance to existing therapies. This underscores the urgent need for safer, more effective drugs to combat resistant strains and advance acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) therapeutics. Eight triterpene esters (1-8) were identified from Uncaria rhynchophylla hooks.

The mechanical responses of sandy soil under dynamic loading is closely related to protective engineering and geotechnical engineering, is still not fully understood. To investigate the energy attenuation law and propagation velocity of compressed waves in dry sandy soil, this paper focuses on the dynamic response of compression waves in the specimen under single impact and repetitive impact conditions using an improved split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB). The results reveal that the length of the specimen follows an exponential relationship with the attenuation of the peak stress.

Ensuring everyone enjoys healthy lifestyles and well-being at all ages, Progress has been made in increasing access to clean water and sanitation facilities and reducing the spread of epidemics and diseases. The synthesis of nano-particles (NPs) by using microalgae is a new nanobiotechnology due to the use of the biomolecular (corona) of microalgae as a capping and reducing agent for NP creation. This investigation explores the capacity of a distinct indigenous microalgal strain to synthesize silver nano-particles (AgNPs), as well as its effectiveness against multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria and its ability to degrade Azo dye (Methyl Red) in wastewater.

Cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, poses significant global concern. A strain of the genus Pseudomonas, CD3, demonstrating significant cadmium resistance (up to 3 mM CdCl.HO) was identified from a pool of 26 cadmium-resistant bacteria isolated from cadmium-contaminated soil samples from Malda, India.
