Fetal heart rate (FHR) is an important characteristic in fetal well-being follow-up. It is classically estimated using the cardiotocogram (CTG) non-invasive reference technique. However, this latter presents some significant drawbacks. An alternative non-invasive solution based on the fetal phonocardiogram (fetal PCG) can be used. But most of proposed methods based on the PCG signal need to detect and to label the fetal cardiac S and S sounds, which may be a difficult task in certain conditions. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new methodology for FHR estimation from fetal PCG with one single cardio-microphone and without the distinction constraint of heart sounds. The method is based on the non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) applied on the spectrogram of fetal PCG considered as a source-filter model. The proposed method provides satisfactory results on a preliminary dataset of abdominal PCG signals. When compared to the reference CTG, correlation on FHR estimations between PCG and CTG is around 90%.

Background: Anterior segment dysgenesis (ASD) encompasses a range of congenital disorders affecting the development of the eye's anterior segment, often leading to significant visual impairment and glaucoma. Although numerous studies have focused on the genetic basis of ASD, few have comprehensively compared the clinical features across ASD subtypes. This study aims to address this gap by describing and comparing the clinical characteristics and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) imaging features of various ASD subtypes in a Chinese tertiary medical center.

Objective: Phonocardiography has recently gained popularity in low-cost and remote monitoring, including passive fetal heart monitoring. The development of methods which analyse phonocardiographic data tries to capitalize on this opportunity, and in recent years a multitude of such algorithms and models have been published. In these approaches there is little to no standardization and multiple parts of these models have to be reimplemented on a case-by-case basis.

This comprehensive review offers a thorough examination of fetal heart rate (fHR) monitoring methods, which are an essential component of prenatal care for assessing fetal health and identifying possible problems early on. It examines the clinical uses, accuracy, and limitations of both modern and traditional monitoring techniques, such as electrocardiography (ECG), ballistocardiography (BCG), phonocardiography (PCG), and cardiotocography (CTG), in a variety of obstetric scenarios. A particular focus is on the most recent developments in textile-based wearables for fHR monitoring.

Background: Plasma cell granuloma (PCG) is a rare clinical entity seen in the neurosurgical literature. It has often been referred to as inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor or inflammatory pseudotumor. No well-defined management guidelines exist in the literature.
