Parent isoquinoline diimide (IQDI) and phthalazine diimide (PTDI), as two new heterocyclic analogues of naphthalene diimides (NDIs), have been synthesized through an oxidative strategy in 35-79 % yield. X-ray crystallography has been used to support the formation of IQDI, which also show fluorescence quantum yields of 3.5 %. BH3 mimetics are small‑molecule inhibitors of the antiapoptotic Bcl‑2 family and have therapeutic efficacy against hematological malignancies. BH3 mimetic A‑1331852 suppresses colorectal cancer cell proliferation. Progressive resistance to the widely used anticancer agent fluorouracil (5‑FU) is a key reason for colorectal cancer recurrence; therefore, the present study tested if A‑1331852 can suppress the proliferation of 5‑FU‑resistant colorectal cancer cells.

Background: Opisthorchis viverrini (OV) and soil-transmitted helminths (STH) are two of the most common helminths contributing to the Neglected Tropical Disease (NTDs) burden in the Lower Mekong Basin. Although mass drug administration is the cornerstone of control programs to reduce morbidity caused by these infections, this approach has limitations in preventing re-infections. The concentration of formaldehyde in the environment must be precisely monitored, as it is closely linked to human health. In this paper, a decaboryl derivative formaldehyde fluorescent probe (M1) was synthesized for the first time by introducing a 5-amino-isoquinoline group into a decaborane parent. Using theoretical calculations, H-NMR, B-NMR, HR-MS, and FT-IR, the molecular structure of the probe was determined and its response mechanism to formaldehyde was examined.
