Many pathogenic species possess the ability to undergo a reversible morphological transition from yeast to filamentous cells. In , the most frequently isolated human fungal pathogen, multiple lines of evidence strongly suggest that this transition is associated with virulence and pathogenicity. While it has generally been assumed that non- species (NACS) are less pathogenic than , in part, because they do not filament as well, definitive evidence is lacking. Interestingly, however, a recent study suggests that filamentation of NACS is associated with reduced, rather than increased, pathogenicity. These findings, in turn, challenge conventional views and suggest that there are fundamental evolutionary differences in the morphology-pathogenicity relationship in vs. NACS. The findings also raise many new and intriguing questions and open new avenues for future research, which are discussed.

Electronic address:

On the basis of the co-culture strategy, five previously undescribed S-bridged pyranonaphthoquinones, crepidamycins A-E (1-5) and five known analogues (6-10) were isolated from a medicinal plant endophytic Streptomyces sp. MG-F-1 in Dendrobium crepidatum with Bacillus cereus MG-1. The structures and absolute configurations of 1-5 were elucidated by the interpretation of data from detailed spectroscopic analysis and electronic circular dichroism spectra, together with consideration of the biogenetic origins.

Helminths infection of Schizothorax niger in Kashmir, India: morphological and molecular characterization.

Mol Biol Rep

January 2025

Division of Animal Biotechnology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-K, Srinagar, India.

Background: The identification of helminth parasites in Schizothorax spp. from Kashmir, including Schyzocotyle acheilognathi, Pomphorhynchus kashmirensis, and Adenoscolex oreini, is hindered by morphological limitations and high intraspecific variation. While previous studies have relied on morphological diagnosis, a comprehensive molecular characterization is lacking.

Erlotinib, an epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), is currently used in the therapy of several solid malignancies. This agent has been associated with several dermatological side-effects, the most common being papulo-pustular acneiform rash. Herein we describe a unique skin effect in a patient treated with erlotinib for non-small cell lung cancer.

Food Additives Standard Division, Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, Osong, Cheongju 28159, Republic of Korea.

In this study, dietary exposures to 9 food emulsifiers, including 4 polysorbates and 5 esters of fatty acids, were assessed in Korean population. For the exposure assessment, three scenarios of the consumption, including mean and P95 in whole population and mean in consumed population, were applied. As a result, the EDIs of 9 emulsifiers were overall low compared to the ADIs.

Domestic e-retailers acknowledge logistics service quality (LSQ) as a critical success factor in business excellence. However, exponential growth in cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) requires a re-evaluation of the relationship between LSQ and consumers repurchase intention. By integrating the technology acceptance model, this study investigates the impact of LSQ on repurchase intention based on the LSQ (experience)-satisfaction-repurchase intention consequence chain.
