This paper shows results of a study on the corrosion behavior of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) coatings sampled from the AlMg6 alloy. The alloy was simultaneously subjected to a corrosive environment and static tensile stress. For comparative purposes, the tests were run for both coated samples and samples without coatings. The research was conducted at a properly prepared stand; the samples were placed in a glass container filled with 3.5% NaCl aqueous solution and stretched. Two levels of tensile stress were accepted for the samples: = 0.8 = , and the tests were run for two time intervals: = 480 h and = 1000 h. Prolonged stress corrosion tests (lasting up to 1000 h) showed that the samples covered with ceramic coatings demonstrated significantly higher corrosion resistance than the samples without the coatings. Protective properties of the coating could be explained by its structure. Surface pores were insignificant, and their depth was very limited. The porosity level of the main coating layer was 1%. Such a structure of coating and its phase composition provided high protective properties.

Metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) hydrogen sensors offer advantages, such as high sensitivity and fast response, but their challenges remain in achieving low-cost fabrication and stable operation at room temperature. This study investigates Nb-doped TiO (NTO) thin films prepared via a one-step micro-arc oxidation (MAO) with the addition of NbO nanoparticles into the electrolyte for room-temperature hydrogen sensing. The characterization results revealed that the incorporation of NbO altered the film's morphology and phase composition, increasing the Nb content and forming a homogeneous composite thin film.

Titanium potassium oxalate had been mixed into the electrolyte to improve the anti-corrosion property of the micro arc oxidation coating on the surface of the aluminium alloy. The surface and cross-section of the coating at different titanium potassium oxalate concentrations had been observed by scanning electron microscopy, showing that when the titanium potassium oxalate concentration was 10 g/L, the coating compactness was better. Additionally, the element content of the coating had been studied by the energy dispersive spectrometer, and results proved that the coating consisted of Al, O, Ti, Si, and P.

Biodegradable metals offer significant advantages by reducing the need for additional surgeries following bone fixation. These materials, with their optimal mechanical and degradable properties, also mitigate stress-shielding effects while promoting biological processes essential for healing. This study investigated the in vitro and in vivo biocompatibility of ZK60 magnesium alloy coated with a micro-arc oxidative layer incorporated with cerium oxide nanoparticles in orthopedic implants.

The general trend of increasing life expectancy will consistently drive the demand for orthopedic prostheses. In addition to the elderly, the younger population is also in urgent need of orthopedic devices, as bone fractures are a relatively common injury type; it is important to treat the patient quickly, painlessly, and eliminate further health complications. In the field of traumatology and orthopedics, metals and their alloys are currently the most commonly used materials.
