Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most frequent form of dementia and represents an increasing global burden, particularly in countries like Indonesia, where the population has begun to age significantly. Current medications, including cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists, have modest effects on clinical symptoms in the early to middle stages, but there is no curative treatment available so far despite progress. Activating or repressing epigenetic modifications, including DNA methylation, histone modification and microRNA regulation, appears to play an important role in AD development.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a life-long autoimmune disease caused by the confluence of genetic and environmental variables that lead to loss of self-tolerance and persistent joint inflammation. RA occurs at the highest incidence in individuals >65 years old, implicating the aging process in disease susceptibility. Transformative approaches in molecular immunology and in functional genomics have paved the way for pathway paradigms underlying the replacement of immune homeostasis with auto-destructive immunity in affected patients, including the process of immune aging.

Percutaneous valve implantation or surgical replacement with mechanical or biological valves are standard therapies for severe valvular heart diseases. Prosthetic valve thrombosis, though rare, is a serious complication, particularly with mechanical prostheses. This study aimed to investigate the predictive value of platelet volume parameters, including mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet distribution width (PDW), and platelet-large cell ratio (P-LCR), for valvular thrombosis risk in patients undergoing valve replacement therapy.

Insertion of inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) is generally regarded as a safe procedure, with low rates of complications. However, when complications do arise, they can pose significant challenges to both patients and surgeons. Patient optimization and adherence to specific intraoperative protocols are crucial in mitigating the risk of surgical complications.

Introduction: Temporomandibular disorder (TMD) is a common, yet potentially debilitating syndrome that negatively impacts patient quality of life. In patients with severe variants of TMD, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) devices have been utilized to replace the joint altogether. However, the risk profile and consequent cost-benefit ratio of these devices is largely debated.
