Background: Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is the most common acute paralytic neuropathy. Many clinical trials indicate acupuncture provides a good effect as a complementary therapy of Western medicine for GBS. The objective of this systematic review protocol is to provide the evidence to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture on the treatment of GBS.

Methods: We will search relevant randomized controlled trials investigating the effect of acupuncture for GBS in following databases from start to October 2019: PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL Complete, National Digital Science Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database without language restriction. For articles that meet our inclusion criteria, 2 researchers will extract the data information independently, and assess the risk of bias and trial quality by the Cochrane collaboration's tool. All data will be analyzed by RevMan V.5.3.3 statistical software.

Results: According to the Barthel index of Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) muscle scale, the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for GBS will be determined in this study.

Conclusion: This systemic review will provide high quality evidence to judging whether acupuncture provides benefits to treat GBS.Prospero registration number: CRD42019158710.

Background: Neurodermatitis is a chronic skin condition characterized by intense itching and skin thickening due to neurological dysfunction. Its persistent nature poses a challenge to effective treatment, significantly impacting patients' quality of life. Wet cupping therapy is increasingly being used in clinics to manage neurodermatitis, so it is imperative to assess the evidence regarding its effectiveness and safety.

Background: Needle stick injury (NSI) is one of the most common and severe occupational hazards for healthcare workers (HCWs), leading to both physical harm and psychological distress and ultimately affecting patient safety. Previous studies on NSI were predominantly focused on general clinical practice, and limited research has targeted specifical NSI occurring in acupuncture practice in China, which has the greatest use of acupuncture.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate NSI and associated factors among acupuncture practitioners in China.

Article Synopsis
  • Chronic nonspecific low back pain (cNLBP) can be treated effectively with electroacupuncture (EA) at both traditional acupoints (TAPs) and myofascial trigger points (MTrPs), although the best stimulation type and frequency (alternated frequency [AF] vs. high frequency [HF]) need further investigation.
  • A randomized controlled trial with 160 middle-aged cNLBP patients tested four EA treatment groups: AF and HF applied to both MTrPs and TAPs, measuring pain levels, medication usage, disability scores, and safety over four weeks.
  • Results showed that AF was more effective than HF for pain reduction and disability improvements in all groups, particularly benefiting older patients (aged 60
