is part of the normal human oropharyngeal microflora and is frequently associated with dental caries and periodontal disease. Invasive disease has been described essentially in immunocompromised hosts and/or patients with underlying conditions as predisposing factors. We present a case of an otherwise healthy 46-years old male with spondylodiscitis caused by this pathogen. Treatment with ceftriaxone and rifampin was successful. To our knowledge, this is the first spondylodiscitis reported in an immunocompetent patient, and the second one in the literature overall.

Objective: Solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients carry a higher incidence of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) with more aggressive features and worse outcomes compared to immunocompetent (IC) patients. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network advocates peripheral and deep en-face margin assessment such as Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) for very-high-risk cSCC. We aim to assess the efficacy of MMS in the treatment of SOT immunosuppressed head and neck (HN) cSCC patients.

Due to their high developmental diversity and different regulatory and functional roles, B cell subpopulations can promote or inhibit tumor growth. An orthotopic murine HNSCC model was applied to investigate the B cell composition and function in HNSCCs. Using flow cytometry approaches, cells from the spleen, lymph nodes and tumors were analyzed.

Unlabelled: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a human herpes virus with a worldwide seroprevalence of 60-100%, mainly known to cause severe life-threatening disease in immunocompromised patients. In immunocompetent hosts (IMCh), CMV causes a self-limiting mononucleosis-like infection, and severe pictures are less recognized. We report a case of a previously healthy 62-year-old woman evaluated in the Internal Medicine outpatient clinic for 3 weeks of progressive fatigue, generalised inflammatory arthralgias, hypogastric discomfort and daily persistent fever.

Background: is an anaerobic gram-negative coccus found as a commensal organism in the oral, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary tract of humans. Rarely, it can cause serious infections by the production of lipopolysaccharide, an endotoxin. Although most infections occur in immunocompromised individuals, we herein describe cases of discitis, a rare presentation of , in immunocompetent patients.
