In this study, the effect of a plasma ion carburizing process to duplex and superduplex stainless steels (DSS and SDSS), at 925 °C for a long time, as thermochemical process influencing the microstructural evolution is presented. The objective is to analyse the diffusion elements' influence on the precipitation of secondary phases after additional short thermal treatment. A comparison among the different treatments was performed after the resulting microstructures were analysed by Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscope. Precipitation of secondary phases-sigma (σ), chi (χ), nitrides and carbides-seemed to occur during the treatments in a similar way for both steels (DSS and SDSS), although they showed a different morphology and precipitation mode. General corrosion behaviour of untreated and treated samples was investigated by potentiodynamic tests in order to prove their corrosion resistance. It was found that an improvement of the surface protection after the plasma carburizing process occurred.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) resistance poses a significant challenge in the treatment of rectal cancer, driving the need for novel therapeutic strategies. In this study, we established 5-FU-resistant rectal cancer cell lines (SW837-r, SNU-C1-r) and identified homoharringtonine (HHT) as a potent and selective anticancer agent through high-throughput drug screening of 291 compounds. HHT displayed the highest selective drug sensitivity score (sDSS), showing strong activity against resistant cells while sparing normal rectal epithelial cells.

To improve the film brittleness and adhesion to fibers of dodecenylsuccinated starch (DSS), DSS samples were sulfonated with excess NaHSO to prepare a series of sulfododecenylsuccinated starch (SDSS) samples with different degrees of substitution (). Their adhesion to fibers, surface tensions, film tensile properties and crystallinities, and moisture regains were studied. The results showed that the SDSS was superior to DSS and acid-thinned starch (ATS) in the adhesion to cotton and polyester fibers and breaking elongation of film but was inferior to them in tensile strength and degree of crystallinity of film, which revealed that sulfododecenylsuccination could further improve the adhesion of ATS to both fibers and reduce its film brittleness compared to starch dodecenylsuccination.

The global spread of the coronavirus has generated one of the most critical circumstances forcing healthcare systems to deal with it everywhere in the world. The complexity of crisis management, particularly in Iran, the unfamiliarity of the disease, and a lack of expertise, provided the foundation for researchers and implementers to propose innovative solutions. One of the most important obstacles in COVID-19 crisis management is the lack of information and the need for immediate and real-time data on the situation and appropriate solutions.

We developed an efficient multi-enzyme cascade reaction to produce (R)- or (S)-3,4-Dihydroxyphenyllactic acid [(R)- or (S)-Danshensu, (R)- or (S)-DSS] from 3,4-Dihydroxyphenyl-L-alanine (L-DOPA) in Escherichia coli by introducing tyrosine aminotransferase (tyrB), glutamate dehydrogenase (cdgdh) and D-aromatic lactate dehydrogenase (csldhD) or L-aromatic lactate dehydrogenase (tcldhL). First, the genes in the pathway were overexpressed and fine-tuned for (R)- or (S)-DSS production. The resulting strain, E.
