Introduction: The present study aimed at evaluating the systemic profile and network connectivity of immune mediators during acute chikungunya fever (CHIKF) according to days of symptoms onset and ageing.
Methods: A total of 161 volunteers (76 CHIKF patients and 85 non-infected healthy controls) were enrolled.
Results And Discussion: Data demonstrated that a massive and polyfunctional storm of serum immune mediators was observed in CHIKF.

Rationale: Patients with atrial fibrillation and a large goiter have high perioperative risks and often cannot tolerate general anesthesia, making it necessary for us to explore new safe and effective anesthesia methods.
Patient Concerns: The patient presented with atrial fibrillation accompanied by rapid ventricular rate, a thrombus attached to the left atrial appendage, and a massive thyroid goiter compressing the airway.
Diagnosis: After the left humerus fracture surgery, the patient's internal fixation loosened and fractured, accompanied by infection, formation of sinus tracts, and suppuration.

Waterhouse-Friderichsen Syndrome (WFS) is a rare but life-threatening condition characterized by massive adrenal hemorrhage. WFS represents one of the features of the Overwhelming Post-Splenectomy Infection, which occurs any time after spleen removal and is recognized as the most serious complication in asplenic patients. We report a fatal case of WFS resulting from Streptococcus pneumoniae infection in a vaccinated and splenectomized patient.

The gastrointestinal tract is ground zero for the massive and sustained CD4 T cell depletion during acute HIV-1 infection. To date, the molecular mechanisms governing this fundamental pathogenic process remain unclear. HIV-1 infection in the gastrointestinal tract is associated with chronic inflammation due to a disrupted epithelial barrier that results in microbial translocation.
