AI Article Synopsis

  • Chemical investigations of the flowers led to the isolation of 12 known compounds, with their structures determined using spectroscopic studies.
  • The absolute configuration of one compound was accurately determined using 2D NMR and quantum chemical calculations of ECD spectra.
  • Some compounds were isolated for the first time from their respective genera, and the antibacterial activity of several compounds was evaluated.

Article Abstract

Chemical investigations of the flowers of resulted in the isolation of 12 known compounds (-). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic studies and chemical evidence. The structure and absolute configuration of was precisely determined by a combination of 2 D NMR and quantum chemical calculations of ECD spectra analysis. Compounds , , were isolated from the genus for the first time, while -, - were isolated from for the first time. The antibacterial activity of compounds , , , were evaluated.

The spreading of COVID-19 has posed a risk to global health, especially for lung cancer patients. An investigation is needed to overcome the challenges of COVID-19 pathophysiology and lung cancer disease. This study was designed to evaluate the phytoconstituents in Punica granatum peel (PGP), its anti-lung cancer activity, and in silico evaluation for antiviral potential.

Traditional extraction under merely one specific solvent was confronted with incomplete phytochemical unscramble problem. In view of this, in order to obtain the overall chemical understanding, we attempted to use Astragalus membranaceus flower, an abundant exploitable resource, to screen a novel extraction mixing scheme via gradient solvents based on the ions' quantity detected in UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS approach. Samples were firstly extracted by different concentration ethanol, and then, six mixing schemes were investigated and one scheme with maximum detected ions was screened out.

From the leaves of , fourteen compounds were isolated and identified: D-mannitol (), a mixture of β-sitosterol () and stigmasterol (), α-amyrin (), betulin (), lupeol (), lupenone (), betulinic acid (), taraxerol (), 3β-(E)-coumaroyltaraxerol (), 3β-(Z)-coumaroyltaraxerol (), ursolic acid (), stigmasterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside (), and β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucoside (). These compounds were analysed through NMR spectroscopy (both 1D and 2D) and by comparing them to previously published data. Compounds , , , and - have been identified from this species for the first time.
