Background: Stroke remains a leading cause of mortality and disability among adults. Given the restricted therapeutic window for intravascular interventions and neuroprotection during the acute phase, there has been a growing focus on tissue repair and functional recovery in the subacute and chronic phases after stroke. The pro-inflammatory microglial polarization occurs in subacute and chronic phases after stroke and may represent therapeutic targets for stroke recovery.

Purpose: To explore associations of environmental and personal factors, participation, and health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) with physical behavior (PB) after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH).
Materials And Methods: PB, expressed in duration and distribution of physical activity (PA; walking, running, cycling) and sedentary behavior (SB; lying/sitting) and PA intensity was assessed with the Activ8 accelerometer during 7 days. Environmental and personal factors (social influence, health-condition, illness-perception, self-efficacy, fatigue, mood, kinesiophobia, cognition, coping, sleep), participation and HR-QoL, were assessed with validated questionnaires.

Collaboration between occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists is crucial in stroke rehabilitation to effectively manage the complex challenges patients often experience after stroke. This article describes a two-hour, case-based interprofessional education (IPE) stroke workshop that required 67 graduate occupation therapy (OT) and speech-language pathology (SLP) students to collaboratively solve a case study related to stroke. Students used a survey to self-assess their interprofessional collaborative practice before and after participating in the workshop and completed a reflection journal.

By presenting sometimes conflicting data, the review underscores the necessity for further research to clarify the complex mechanisms behind PFO-related CS and optimize its management. Results from research identifies specific conditions and scores, such as the risk of paradoxical embolism (RoPE) score, that help assess the likelihood of PFO-related cryptogenic stroke and guide treatment decisions.
