The results of numerical ignition simulation of pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), cyclotrimethylene trinitramine (RDX), cyclotetramethylene tetranitramine (HMX) and 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB) by aluminium (Al) and molybdenum (Mo) films heated by nanosecond laser pulses in a three-layer system: glass-metal-explosive material (EM) are presented. Influence of metal film thickness on the time of EM ignition delay was considered. A non-linier dependence of time of delay of ignition of EM from thickness of a metal film is shown. The greatest critical thicknesses of Al and Mo metallic films at which ignition of EM is still possible were determined. It was established that the greater the thickness of the metal film and heat resistance of EM, the greater the heat reserve needed in EM ignition film. It was established that the ignition delay time of EM increases in the sequence of PETN, RDX, HMX and TATB.

The development of safe, environmentally friendly, edible antimicrobial packaging films represents a promising alternative to conventional plastic packaging for reducing spoilage and extending the shelf life of fresh food. Here, we propose a novel strategy to construct edible β-CD-MOF/carvacrol@zein (BCCZ) composite films by intertwining β-CD-MOF loaded with the antimicrobial essential oil carvacrol, and zein. The resulting BCCZ films exhibit high humidity-triggered, long-lasting bactericidal efficacy, effective fruit preservation, and excellent biosafety.

This study reports the synthesis of plasmonic hot nanogap networks-in-triangular nanoframes (NITNFs), featuring narrow intraparticle nanogap networks embedded within triangular nanoframes. Starting from Au nanotriangles, Pt NITNFs are synthesized through a cascade reaction involving simultaneous Pt deposition and Au etching in a one-pot process. The Pt NITNFs are then transformed into plasmonically active Au NITNFs via Au coating.

Calcium metal batteries with high capacity and low cost are promising alternatives to Li-ion batteries for large-scale energy storage. However, its development is crucially impeded by the irreversible Ca metal anode, which is highly associated with uncontrollable Ca plating/stripping. Here, we report a new riveting strategy to regulate the nucleation and growth of a Ca metal anode in the 3D structure of a carbon nanotube film (CNF) by introducing in situ-formed Na metal mediators.

In conventional nondispersive infrared (NDIR) gas sensors, a wide-spectrum IR source or detector must be combined with a narrowband filter to eliminate the interference of nontarget gases. Therefore, the multiplexed NDIR gas sensor requires multiple pairs of narrowband filters, which is not conducive to miniaturization and integration. Although plasmonic metamaterials or multilayer thin-film structures are widely applied in spectral absorption filters, realizing high-performance, large-area, multiband, and compact filters is rather challenging.

Nanotwinned materials have recently attracted intense interest since they often exhibit excellent mechanical properties that are far superior to those of the corresponding single crystals. However, how nanotwinned structures affect the physical properties of functional materials remains almost unexplored. In this study, we demonstrate ferrimagnetism in a nanotwinned antiferromagnetic CrO thin film.
