Intravesicular application of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), a live attenuated strain of , is effective in the treatment of bladder cancer. However, systemic dissemination and subsequent infection of implants have been reported. We present a case of infection of a total hip arthroplasty 5 years after BCG instillation for bladder cancer. He was treated with debridement, antibiotics, irrigation, and prosthesis retention with appropriate antituberculous therapy. At 4 years after surgery and 3 years after cessation of treatment, he has had no recurrence of infection with a good functional outcome. This case highlights the need to consider infection in patients who have received intravesicular BCG. Debridement and retention of well-fixed implants can be successful in combination with appropriate antituberculous therapy.

The mungbean yellow mosaic India virus (MYMIV, Begomovirus vignaradiataindiaense) causes Yellow Mosaic Disease (YMD) in mungbean (Vigna radiata L.). The biochemical assays including total phenol content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), ascorbic acid (AA), DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), and FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) were used to study the mungbean plants defense response to MYMIV infection.

Interferon γ-induced protein 10 kDa (IP-10) or C-X-C motif chemokine 10 (CXCL10) is produced and secreted from specific leukocytes such as neutrophils, eosinophils, and monocytes, which play key roles in the immune response to Plasmodium infections. This systematic review aimed to collate and critically appraise the current evidence on IP-10 levels in malaria patients. It provided insights into its role in malaria pathogenesis and potential as a biomarker for Plasmodium infections and disease severity.

Introduction: Insecticide-treated bed nets are often used as a physical barrier to prevent infection of malaria. In Sub-Saharan Africa, one of the most important ways of reducing the malaria burden is the utilization of insecticide-treated bed nets. However, there is no sufficient information on the utilization of insecticide-treated bed nets and their associated factors in Ethiopia.

The long-term complications of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) continue to cause global concern. This study aimed to estimate the incidence and risk of chronic urticaria, vitiligo, alopecia areata, and herpes zoster following COVID-19 infection. Only participants confirmed by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests to have COVID-19 were enrolled in the COVID-19 group.
