L. has been utilized for a long time as a traditional herbal medicine in Korea. Dry fruits, achenes, each containing a single seed of , are currently prescribed as (Cannabis Semen), a laxative. As each achene is enclosed by a bract, in which tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychological active compound in is synthesized; achene is easily contaminated by THC from bract remnants. Therefore, it is safer to harvest achenes from with a low THC content. Seeds of hemp, a low THC , were recently classified as possible sources of new pharmacologically active compounds. Thus, a proper method to select appropriate plants with low THC among cultivars in South Korea for medicinal purpose is necessary. As a result of cross-selection, L. cultivar "Cheungsam" (CH) with the lowest THC content among cultivars cultivated in South Korea has been developed. In this study, we developed two DNA markers to reliably discriminate CH from other local cultivars with higher THC contents. We developed primer sets CHF3/CHR2 to amplify the 642 bp DNA marker of CH based on differences in the nucleotide sequences of the gene, which encodes a key enzyme in THC synthesis. We then developed a CHF1/CHR3 primer set to amplify the 401 bp DNA marker of CH based on the differences in both the content of very long chain fatty acids (VLCFs) and the sequence of the putative () gene encoding enzymes synthesizing VLCFs among local cultivars.

The growing demand for plant-based protein and natural food ingredients has further fueled interest in exploring hemp seeds ( L.) as a sustainable source of and nutrition. In addition to the content of proteins and healthy fats (linoleic acid and alpha-linolenic acid), hemp seeds are rich in phytochemical compounds, especially terpenoids, polyphenols, and phytosterols, which contribute to their bioactive properties.

The increasing acceptance of cannabis use, and policy changes in several jurisdictions has led researchers and public health experts to call for a standard cannabis dose. Standard dosing units are useful tools for regulation, substance use guidelines, data collection, consistency of research, as a means of communicating low-risk recommendations and dose-related effects, and for self-monitoring. Efforts to standardize cannabis dose have focused on cannabinoid content without considering tolerance or mode.

The recent surge in popularity of cannabidiol-infused products extends beyond food and supplements to the cosmetic industry. Accurate labeling remains a significant concern, as many products fail to meet advertised cannabidiol content and/or contain psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinol above the permissible levels. In this work, we present the use of an HPLC-UV-MS/MS method for the quantification of five major cannabinoids (cannabidiol, cannabidiolic acid, tetrahydrocannabinol, tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, and cannabigerol) in oil-in-water cosmetic emulsions.

The use of anesthetic agents as pre-operatory treatment to pearl seeding surgery can be stressful to organisms and activate various physiological response mechanisms. This study evaluated some parameters of the systemic antioxidant and immune responses in red abalone (Haliotis rufescens) exposed to 0.25 mL L eugenol (EUB), 3.

Modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) alters the gaseous composition of air surrounding packaged goods to prevent deleterious oxidation associated reactions. MAP has been adopted for the storage of cannabis, though a recent study revealed little difference in terpene content under MAP conditions. Questions regarding its efficacy for preservation of high value compounds like terpenes and cannabinoids lost during postharvest storage remain.
