Frequency of chromosome aberrations in the liver cells of hepatectomized Wistar rats aged 3, 9, 12 and 18 months was studied. Changes in the number of chromosomes and damage of their structure at the metaphase stage of the first division hepatocytes are analyzed. The content of aneuploid cells was 1-3% of the total number of metaphases studied and did not change with the age of animals. Frequency of chromosomal aberrations increased with aging from 1.3 to 6.9 in rats aged 3 and 18 months, respectively, mainly due to chromatid-type aberrations.

This study aimed to investigate the potential of Pichia kudriavzevii (PK), a newly discovered yeast strain, in alleviating the deleterious effects induced by aflatoxins on broilers. Eighty one-day-old broiler chicks were divided into four groups and subjected to various combinations of aflatoxin dosages at 300 μg/kg of feed alongside PK supplementation at 1 g/kg of feed. Assessment encompassed a comprehensive array of parameters including performance metrics, hepatic and renal biomarkers, interleukin concentrations, blood cell counts, hemoglobin concentration, packed cell volume, antibody response to sheep red blood cells, lymphoproliferative response to PHA-P, phagocytic response utilizing the carbon clearance assay system, as well as evaluation of oxidants and antioxidants.

As a serine hydrolase synthesized by the liver, butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) is an important biomarker in the clinical diagnosis of liver diseases. To track BChE activity in drug-induced liver injury, we designed a deep-red BChE-activatable fluorescent probe (CYL-BChE) with hemi-cyanine structure by using a cyclopropyl carbonyl group as a specific recognition moiety. Its near-infrared absorption wavelength (665 nm) and emission wavelength (762 nm) provide excellent tissue penetration capabilities, making it suitable for biological imaging.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a member of the genus Alphacoronavirus in the family Coronaviridae, which has a mortality rate of up to 100 % in neonatal piglets and causes huge economic losses to the pig industry. The target cells of PEDV infection are porcine small intestinal epithelial cells, and the mechanism of PEDV invasion remains unclear. Our study found that dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP4) acts as a cofactor for PEDV infection by promoting PEDV invasion and replication.
