Objective: This study was aimed to investigate the antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxicity, and enzyme inhibition activities of and which are naturally grown and consumed intensively by people in Sivas, Turkey.
Methods: Plant materials were extracted with aqueous ethanol by maceration method. The components of the extracts were determined using the Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry. Antimicrobial, cytotoxic and enzyme inhibition activities of the extracts were investigated by micro dilution, XTT assay and 96-micro-well plate methods, respectively. The antioxidant activity evaluated using the DPPH radical scavenging, thiobarbituric acid and reducing power methods. The total phenol and total flavonoid content was also examined.
Results: GC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 31 compounds in extract and 29 compounds in extract. According to the results, extract showed high level of antioxidant activity in comparison to extract. exhibited higher α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, and both extract showed strong α-amylase inhibition activity compared to reference drug acarbose. and ethanolic extracts exhibited antimicrobial activity in the concentration range of 0.039-2.5 mg/ml. Both extracts also exhibited significant anticancer effect on MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells. The IC values of and extracts in MDA-MB-231 cells were determined as 0.0625 mg/mL and 0.053 mg/mL, respectively.
Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that and ethanolic extracts have promising effect on antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activity as well as enzyme inhibition activity, and hence further studies required to identify specific compounds responsible for these activities.

Targeting DNA repair mechanisms, particularly PARP-1 inhibition, has emerged as a promising strategy for developing anticancer therapies. we designed and synthesized two 2-thiazolecarboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone palladium(II) complexes (C1 and C2), and evaluated their anti-cancer activities. These Pd(II) complexes exhibited potent PARP-1 enzyme inhibition and demonstrated considerable antiproliferative activity against various cancer cell lines.

Tyrosinase is a rate-limiting enzyme for melanogenesis and abnormal melanin production can be controlled by utilizing tyrosinase inhibitory substances. To develop potent and safe inhibitors of tyrosinase, complex tannins a narrowly distributed plant polyphenols were prepared from the fruit peel of Euryale ferox (EPTs) and then structurally characterized, as well as investigated for their inhibitory effects and the involved mechanisms against tyrosinase activity and melanogenesis. The structures of EPTs were established to consist of 63.

This study focuses on the development and application of tea polyphenol-loaded chitosan/polyaspartic acid nanoparticles (TP@CS/PASP-Nps) embedded within polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanofibers to extend the shelf life of fruit. The nanofibers were fabricated using electrospinning, which enhanced the stability and uniform dispersion of the nanoparticles. Experimental results demonstrated that the TP@CS/PASP nanoparticles exhibit significant pH and protease-responsive release of TP, with a cumulative release of 56.
