AI Article Synopsis

  • - The text discusses the identification of a paraphyletic group of species and introduces a new generic name for three similar species found in the northern Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Southeast Asia.
  • - It recognizes a species from the Red Sea as related to another but distinct due to specific anatomical features, while another species from Karachi has also been acknowledged as a separate entity.
  • - A new genus is established for a group of rare Indo-West Pacific lucinids, differentiating them and describing three new species, along with another new genus for a small southern Atlantic species misclassified in prior studies.

Article Abstract

Species identified as are paraphyletic in molecular analyses and a new generic name, , is introduced for a complex of three similar species from the northern Indian Ocean and Red Sea, from South East Asia, and from northern and north eastern Australia. from the Red Sea, previously synonymised with is recognised as a -like species but with a very short anterior adductor scar. from Karachi is similarly now recognised as a distinct species, probably related to but with oblique commarginal sculpture and a short adductor scar. A group of minute Indo-West Pacific lucinids with highly unusual multi-cuspate lateral teeth and previously classified as are separated under a new genus , with the description of three new species , , and from the Arabian Gulf, Mozambique, and Madagascar. Finally, a new genus, , is introduced for the small southern Atlantic species, , shown in molecular analyses to be misplaced at subfamily level and now classified in Lucininae and not Codakiinae with .

Objective: Neurocognitive (NC) impairment in people with HIV (PWH) is associated with erythrocyte indices, which may serve as indicators of iron metabolism, inflammation, and related factors. Erythropoiesis requires iron, regulated by a multifaceted system of peptide hormones, including hepcidin. This study postulated that hepcidin might modify the relationship between erythrocyte indices and NC performance in PWH.

Interpreting Variants of Uncertain Significance in PCD: Abnormal Splicing Caused by a Missense Variant of DNAAF3.

Mol Genet Genomic Med

January 2025

The State Key Laboratory for Complex Severe and Rare Diseases, the State Key Sci-Tech Infrastructure for Translational Medicine, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing, China.

Background: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by dysfunction of motile cilia. While approximately 50 genes have been identified, around 25% of PCD patients remain genetically unexplained; elucidating the pathogenicity of specific variants remains a challenge.

Methods: Whole exome sequencing (WES) and Sanger sequencing were conducted to identify potential pathogenic variants of PCD.

The PRIDE database is the largest public data repository of mass spectrometry-based proteomics data and currently stores more than 40,000 data sets covering a wide range of organisms, experimental techniques, and biological conditions. During the past few years, PRIDE has seen a significant increase in the amount of submitted data-independent acquisition (DIA) proteomics data sets. This provides an excellent opportunity for large-scale data reanalysis and reuse.

Background: Ischemic stroke is a prevalent and life-threatening cerebrovascular disease that is challenging to treat and associated with a poor prognosis. Astragaloside IV (AS-IV), a primary bioactive component of Astragali radix, has demonstrated neuroprotective benefits in previous studies. This study aimed to explore the mechanisms through which AS-IV may treat cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI).

This study investigates the structural and dynamic properties of ternary mixtures composed of NaPF, ethylene carbonate (EC), and the ionic liquid choline glycine (ChGly), with a focus on their potential as electrolytes for supercapacitors. The combination of NaPF-EC, known for its high ionic conductivity, with the biodegradable and environmentally friendly ChGly offers a promising approach to enhancing electrolyte performance. Through molecular simulations, we analyze how the inclusion of small concentrations of ChGly affects key properties such as density, cohesive energy, and ion mobility.
