Oral cancer is highly aggressive due to difficult diagnosis, therapy resistance and increasing frequency; thus finding prevention therapies is very important. This study evaluates the use of gold and silver nanoparticles (NPs), phyto-synthesized with extract against oral dysplastic lesions. NPs were characterized by UV-Vis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction and laser Doppler microelectrophoresis. Biological testing employed two human oral cell lines: gingival fibroblasts and dysplastic keratinocytes and evaluated viability, cell death mechanisms and cellular uptake. NPs induced selective toxic effects against dysplastic cells. p53/BAX/BCL2 activation and PI3K/AKT inhibition led to cell death through necrosis and apoptosis. NPs also induced antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. NPs of gold and silver showed promising beneficial effects in the therapy of oral dysplasia.

Importance: Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common indication for outpatient antimicrobial therapy. National guidelines for the management of uncomplicated UTI were published in 2011, but the extent to which they align with current practices, patient diversity, and pathogen biology, all of which have evolved greatly in the time since their publication, is not fully known.
Objective: To reevaluate the effectiveness and adverse event profile for first-line antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, and oral β-lactams for treating uncomplicated UTI in contemporary clinical practice.

The purpose of this study was to compare the penetration of methylene blue (MB) dye after laser irradiation using PIPS (photon-induced photoacoustic streaming) and SWEEPS (shockwave enhanced emission photoacoustic streaming) methods compared to Passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and to study their effect on dentin microhardness. A total of 44 single-rooted human teeth which were extracted for orthodontic or periodontal reasons were used. The teeth were decapitated to standardize roots to 12 mm in length.

Objective: This study investigated the use of oral rinse solutions formulated with boron-containing compounds, known for their antibacterial activity, as an alternative to chlorhexidine (CHX).
Material And Method: Boron nitride (BN), boric acid (BA) and sodium borate (SB) were used in the study. BN was used in nanosuspension (BN-NS) due to its low solubility in water.

Oral nerve blocks are an indispensable technique for pre-emptive pain management in various veterinary procedures, including tooth extractions. Local anaesthetic drugs are considered the safest and the most effective agents to inhibit oral pain. Recently, tramadol was used as an adjuvant to local anaesthetics to increase the duration of analgesia.

Aim: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic syndrome characterised by absolute or relative insufficiency of insulin secretion. The alkaloids from Rhizoma coptidis have potential hypoglycemic effects. Epiberberine (EPI), a protoberberine alkaloid extracted from Rhizome coptidis, has been found to regulate lipid metabolism.
