The objective of this work was to characterize the properties of a synthetic biomaterial composite with nanoparticles size (Blue Bone). This biomaterial is a composite recommended for dental and orthopedic grafting surgery, for guided bone regeneration, including maxillary sinus lift, fresh alveolus filling, and treatment of furcation lesions. The nano biomaterials surface area is from 30% to 50% higher than those with micro dimensions. Another advantage is that the alloplastic biomaterial has homogeneous properties due to the complete manufacturing control. The analyzed biomaterial composite was characterized by XRD, cytochemistry, scanning electron microscopy, porosimetry and in vivo experiments (animals). The results showed that the analyzed biomaterial composite has 78.76% hydroxyapatite [Ca(PO)(OH)] with monoclinic structure, 21.03% β-tricalcium phosphate [β -Ca(PO)] with trigonal structure and 0.19% of CaO with cubic structure, nanoparticles with homogeneous shapes, and nanoporosity. The in vivo experiments showed that the composite has null cytotoxicity, and the site of insertion biomaterials has a high level of vascularization and bone formation. The conclusion is that the synthetic biomaterial with Blue Bone designation presents characteristics suitable for use in grafting surgery applications.

Fluoropolymer alone, as an alternative to lead-based piezoelectric materials, has shown multiple challenges to develop useful sensors for solving real-world problems such as photoacoustic, ultrasound pulse echo, and other non-destructive testing. This work demonstrates the fabrication of high frequency and wide bandwidth transducers with fluoropolymer and highly polarizing cubic single crystal Barium titanate (BaTiO) ceramic composite for high resolution in-vivo photo-acoustic and ultrasound imaging. For transducer fabrication, a customized bio-compatible nanocomposite sensor film of PVDF-TrFE (Polyvinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene)/BaTiO (BTO) is synthesized by drop and dry in heating-cum-electro-poling system for advancing polarization, crystallinity, and higher charge generation.

Background: The challenge of achieving effective tendon-to-bone healing remains a significant concern in sports medicine, necessitating further exploration. Biomimetic electrospun nanomaterials present promising avenues for improving this critical healing process.
Purpose: To investigate the biological efficacy of a novel aligned-to-random PLGA/Col1-PLGA/nHA bilayer electrospun nanofiber membrane in facilitating tendon-to-bone healing.

In the present in vitro study, we evaluated the adhesion of an injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) to laser-textured zirconia surfaces and their resultant friction behavior against bone tissue. Three types of zirconia surfaces were compared regarding the i-PRF coating effects: 1) grit blasted with 250-μm spherical alumina particles and acid etched with 20% hydrofluoric acid (ZLA), 2) laser textured with a random (RD) surface pattern, or 3) laser textured with a designed pattern based on 16 lines and 8 passages (L16N8). The coefficient of friction (COF) of the specimens was assessed on a reciprocating sliding pin-on-plate tribometer at 1-N normal load, 1 Hz, and a 2-mm stroke length.

This study aimed at assessing the mechanical properties and degradation of commercial bioactive materials. The bioactive materials (Activa Bioactive Restorative, Beautifil Flow Plus F00, F03, Predicta Bulk Bioactive) and composite resin Filtek Supreme Flow were submitted to flexural and diametral tensile strength tests (FS, DTS), modulus of elasticity (ME) evaluation, and analysis of aging in 70% ethanol and saliva on their hardness and sorption. The results for DTS ranged from 33.
