The syntheses, structure and magnetic properties are reported for five novel 1D polymeric azido-bridged lanthanide complexes with the general formula {[Ln(DAPMBH)(N)CHOH]CHOH} where HDAPMBH = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(4-methoxybenzoylhydrazone)-a new pentadentate pyridine-base [NO] ligand and Ln = Dy (), YDy (), Er (), YEr (), and Gd (). X-ray diffraction analysis of - show that the central lanthanide atoms are eight-coordinated with the NO donor set originating from the ligand DAPMBH, one coordinated ethanol molecule and two end-to-end type N bridges connecting the metal centers into infinite chain. The [LnNO] coordination polyhedron can be regarded as a distorted dodecahedron (). AC magnetic measurements revealed that compounds - show field-induced single-molecule magnet behavior, with estimated energy barriers ≈ 47-17 K. The experimental study of magnetic properties was complemented by theoretical analysis based on crystal-field calculations. Direct current magnetic susceptibility studies revealed marginally weak intrachain exchange interaction between Ln ions mediated by the end-to-end azide bridging groups ( ≈ -0.015 cm for ). Comparative analysis of static and dynamic magnetic properties of magnetically concentrated (, ) and diluted (, ) Dy and Er compounds showed that, despite fascinating 1D azido-bridged chain structure, compounds and are not single-chain magnets; their magnetic behavior is largely due to single-ion magnetic anisotropy of individual Ln ions.

Five alkali metal manganese(III) fluorophosphates, KMn(POF)F (I), RbMn(POF)F (II), RbMn(POF)(PO)F (III), RbMn(POF)(PO)F (IV), and CsMn(POF)F (V), were successfully synthesized using a hydrothermal method. The monofluorophosphate anion (POF) groups work as "chemical scissors" to promote low-dimensional spin structures with the aid of alkali metal cations. I and II had an = 2 uniform chain structure formed by corner-sharing -MnOF octahedra.

Context: The structural stability, ground state magnetic order, electronic, elastic and thermoelectric properties of NdMn in the C15, C14 and C36 polytypic phases is investigated. The magnetic phase optimization and magnetic susceptibility reveal that NdMn is antiferromagnetic (AFM) in C36 phase; and paramagnetic (PM) in C14 and C15 phases respectively. The band profiles and electrical resistivity show the metallic nature in all these polytypic phases and reveal that the C36 phase possesses smaller resistivity.

Flexible pressure sensors are pivotal in advancing artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and wearable technologies. While microstructuring the functional layer of these sensors effectively enhances their performance, current fabrication methods often require complex equipment and time-consuming processes. Herein, we present a novel magnetization-induced self-assembly method to develop a magnetically grown microneedle array as a dielectric layer for flexible capacitive pressure sensors.

Background: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is associated with abnormal changes in the brain's central nervous system. Previous studies on the brain networks of SSNHL have primarily focused on functional connectivity within the brain. However, in addition to functional connectivity, structural connectivity also plays a crucial role in brain networks.

Objectives: Subthreshold depression (SD) is common in the older population, more so in females than males, and can lead to serious physical and mental ill-health. However, the underlying neurobiology remains unclear. This study used multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate the topological organization and coupling of the structural and functional brain networks in older women with SD.
