Based on observational data for pollutants and meteorology, this study analyzed the pollution episode that occurred during Dec 17th to 23th in 2018 in Zhaoqing, Guangdong Province, China. Using the source apportionment model CMAQ-ISAM and the hybrid receptor model, the regional contributions to air pollution were examined. The results showed that low-pressure conditions had an adverse effect on the diffusion of pollutants during this pollution episode in Zhaoqing. Prior to the pollution episode, pollutants were mainly derived from Zhaoqing and Qingyuan, accounting for 19.2% and 10.7% of pollutants, respectively. As well as pollutants from Guangdong Province, long-distance transport of pollutants from Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, and Shaanxi accounted for approximately 64.5% of the total during the non-pollution period. During the polluted episode, major cities in Pearl River Delta and the eastern part of Guangdong Province contributed more pollutants as a surface high-pressure field moved southward. Zhaoqing, Foshan, Dongguan, Guangzhou, and Huizhou contributed 25.5%, 14.8%, 9.8%, 9.5%, and 5.3% of the pollutants, respectively. Cities in the eastern part of Guangdong Province including Heyuan, Meizhou, Shanwei, Jieyang, Shantou, and Chaozhou contributed 13.7% of the total pollutants. In addition, pollutants from Fujian, Jiangxi, and the Yangtze River Delta accounted for approximately 32.9%. Furthermore, pollutants transported under marine influences were one of the main causes of this pollution episode in Zhaoqing.

Background: Despite evidence from experimental studies linking some petroleum hydrocarbons to markers of immune suppression, limited epidemiologic research exists on this topic.
Objective: The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine associations of oil spill related chemicals (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and n-hexane (BTEX-H)) and total hydrocarbons (THC) with immune-related illnesses as indicators of potential immune suppression.
Methods: Subjects comprised 8601 Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill clean-up and response workers who participated in a home visit (1-3 years after the DWH spill) in the Gulf Long-term Follow-up (GuLF) Study.

This study employed PM concentration data for Xianyang City spanning the years 2014 to 2021, in conjunction with the global data assimilation system (GDAS). Various analytical techniques, including backward trajectory clustering analysis, potential source contribution function (PSCF), concentration weighted trajectory analysis (CWT), and relevant statistical methods, were employed to investigate the temporal and spatial variations in PM pollution. Furthermore, this research aimed to elucidate the source characteristics and potential areas contributing to PM pollution within Xianyang City.

C measurements on the carbonaceous fractions of atmospheric aerosol are an important tool for source apportionment. In this paper, a C-based source apportionment study was carried out on samples collected during winter 2021 at an urban background site in the Po Valley, one of the main pollution hot-spot areas in Europe. The samples were prepared using MISSMARPLE (MIlan Small-SaMple Automated Radiocarbon Preparation LinE for atmospheric aerosol), a recently developed sample preparation line for C measurements on atmospheric aerosol carbon fractions, specifically targeting small samples (about 50 μgC).

This study investigates the sources, chemical composition, and vertical transport of particulate matter (PM) at Mt. Gwanak in southeastern Seoul, focusing on differences between surface and elevated altitudes during winter 2021. Using a time-of-flight aerosol chemical species mass spectrometer (ToF-ACSM), PM was measured at 632 m.

Land cover, vegetation, and landscape management have a large impact on surface water conditions. We analyzed the quantity and quality of surface waters draining from forest catchment with high vegetation and agricultural catchment with low or no vegetation. The following parameters were assessed: specific water runoff, precipitation totals, electrical conductivity in the surface waters, the content of suspended solids, nitrate nitrogen (N-NO), and phosphate phosphorus (P-PO) in the surface waters.
