Objective: to analyze the trend of hospitalization rates and mortality due to Diabetes Mellitus in children and adolescents in Brazil.
Method: temporal series study, hospitalization rates and diabetes mortality in children and adolescents. Data were obtained from the Hospital Information System and Mortality Information System, from 2005-2015, with analysis performed by polynomial regression modeling.
Results: 87,100 hospitalizations and 1,120 deaths from diabetes were analyzed. Hospitalizations rates increased for both genders and all age groups, with an increase for adolescents aged 10-14 years. The mortality rate declined, except for the 15-19-year age group. In the overall mortality trend in Brazil, the South and Southeast showed a decrease, whereas for hospitalizations only the Center-West remained constant, while the others increased.
Conclusion: however, there was a decrease in infant mortality and increase in hospitalizations.

Introduction: Acute kidney injury involves inflammation and intrinsic renal damage, and is a common complication of severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Baseline chronic kidney disease (CKD) confers an increased mortality risk. We determined the renal long-term outcomes of COVID-19 in patients with baseline CKD, and the risk factors prompting renal replacement therapy (RRT) initiation and mortality.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most prevalent arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice. Triglyceride glucose index (Tyg), a convenient evaluation variable for insulin resistance, has shown associations with adverse cardiovascular outcomes. However, studies on the Tyg index's predictive value for adverse prognosis in patients with AF without diabetes are lacking.

Diabetes is a growing health concern in developing countries, causing considerable mortality rates. While machine learning (ML) approaches have been widely used to improve early detection and treatment, several studies have shown low classification accuracies due to overfitting, underfitting, and data noise. This research employs parallel and sequential ensemble ML approaches paired with feature selection techniques to boost classification accuracy.

Objective and subjective aging indicators reflect diverse biological and psychosocial processes, yet their combined association with premature mortality remains underexplored. This study aimed to investigate the association between a multidomain framework of aging indicators and premature mortality, addressing gaps in understanding cumulative effects. We included 369,741 UK Biobank participants initially free of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer, followed until December 31, 2022.

Objective: Frailty has become an increasingly recognized perioperative risk stratification tool. While frailty has been strongly correlated with worsening surgical outcomes, the individual determinants of frailty have rarely been investigated in the setting of aortic disease. The aim of this study was to examine the determinants of an 11-factor modified frailty index (mFI-11) on mortality and postoperative complications in patients undergoing endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR).
