Periodontal plastic surgery often involves palatal donor site, thereby creating an open wound that is prone to postoperative complications such as bleeding, pain, and slow healing process. To prevent the same, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and gelatin sponge (GS) were utilized equally at the donor site in six patients. Patients were monitored at the 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks after surgery for postoperative discomfort (D), consumption of analgesics during first postoperative week, alteration of sensitivity (AS), change in feeding habits (CFH), complete wound epithelialization (CWE), and healing index (Landry 1998). Two patients in the GS group showed significantly early CWE, higher healing index score, and less D, AS, and CFH postoperatively in comparison to the PRF group. It was suggested that GS can also be considered as an effective, economical, and biocompatible dressing material of choice to enhance wound healing and to minimize postoperative complications associated with the donor site.

In rice, leucine-rich repeat nucleotide-binding site (NLR) proteins are pivotal immune receptors in combating -triggered rice blast. However, the precise molecular mechanism underlying how NLR proteins regulate downstream signalling remains elusive due to the lack of knowledge regarding their direct downstream targets. The NLR protein Pigm-1 was cloned from Shuangkang 77009 in our laboratory.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most common skin malignancy, typically occurs in sun-exposed areas but can develop in atypical locations, such as scars, burns, and skin graft donor sites. BCC arising specifically in full-thickness skin graft donor sites is exceptionally rare. This study presents a unique case of BCC occurring 16 years post-graft harvesting and provides a comprehensive literature review to analyze clinical patterns, possible etiopathogenesis, and treatment strategies.

Donor site morbidity remains a significant concern in free flap microsurgery, with implications that extend beyond immediate postoperative outcomes to affect patients' long-term quality of life. This review explores the multi-faceted impact of donor site morbidity on physical, psychological, social, and occupational well-being, synthesizing findings from the existing literature. Particular attention is given to the functional limitations, sensory deficits, aesthetic outcomes, and chronic pain associated with commonly utilized free flaps.

Circular RNA Formation and Degradation Are Not Directed by Universal Pathways.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of unique transcripts characterized by a covalently closed loop structure, which differentiates them from conventional linear RNAs. The formation of circRNAs occurs co-transcriptionally and post-transcriptionally through a distinct type of splicing known as back-splicing, which involves the formation of a head-to-tail splice junction between a 5' splice donor and an upstream 3' splice acceptor. This process, along with exon skipping, intron retention, cryptic splice site utilization, and lariat-driven intron processing, results in the generation of three main types of circRNAs (exonic, intronic, and exonic-intronic) and their isoforms.

Objective: To evaluate the wound healing of recipient and donor sites following keratinized mucosa augmentation (KMA) around implants in reconstructed jaw areas and to compare these outcomes with gingival grafts in native jawbone, so as to provide clinical guidance for postoperative maintenance, and to investigate the impact of clinical experience on the evaluation of KMA postoperative healing through subgroup comparisons.

Methods: This study included patients who underwent resection of maxillofacial tumors, fibular or iliac flap reconstruction, and implant placement at Peking University Dental Hospital from October 2020 to April 2023. Three months post-implant placement, the patients were referred for KMA procedures.
