An eco-friendly Schiff base, namely Salicylaldeyde-Chitosan Schiff Base (SCSB), was synthesized by the reaction of chitosan and salicylaldehyde. In 3.5% NaCl saturated with carbon dioxide at 65 °C corrosion inhibition effect was analyzed using weight loss, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) methods. The PDP results revealed that SCSB acts as a mixed type inhibitor and reduces the corrosion process effectively at 150 mg L concentration with an inhibition efficiency of 95.2% and corrosion rate of 0.444 mm/y. EIS measurements suggest that the corrosion inhibition process is kinetically controlled. Langmuir adsorption model is the best fit among the other tested isotherms. The surface analysis was carried out using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning Kelvin probe (SKP), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to corroborate the formation of inhibitor film on the metal surface. Computational studies showed the effective adsorption of the protonated form of inhibitor.

This study introduced a hydrogel dressing, termed SODex-gel, which was constructed by establishing Schiff base and hydrogen bonds with the precursors of oxidized dextran (ODex) and succinic dihydrazide (SD)-modified sodium alginate (SD--SA). Through comprehensive and studies, the adhesive properties, self-healing capabilities, hemostatic potential, and wound healing efficacy of the SODex-gel dressing were meticulously evaluated. The H NMR, FTIR, and TGA analyses confirmed the fabrication of the SODex-gel dressing and its constituent elements.

A Schiff base of Chitosan was prepared by condensing of the Chitosan (CS) with six aromatic aldehydes and confirmed by FT-IR, NMR, XRD, TGA, and DSC. XRD results showed the disappeared of peaks at 2θ = 10° for CS and appeared one peaks at around 2θ of 23° for Schiff bases, while TGA was demonstrated that the thermal stability of CS has improved after the modification with the corresponding aldehyde. Also, DSC shows endothermal peak of CS at 100 °C due to the loss of water and second thermal event related to the decomposition of amine units with an exothermic peak at 295 °C, while Schiff bases shows endothermal peak around 70-95 °C which is related to the loss of water for all samples and the second exothermic peak around 260-280 °C is related to the decomposition of the amine group in the polymer units.

In this study, a novel nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dot/oxidized gum arabic-gelatin-based fluorescent probe (NAH) was prepared using gelatin (GL) and gum arabic (AG) biomolecules. The primary network structure of this hydrogel consisted of polyacrylamide (PAM), while a secondary network structure was constructed between oxidized gum arabic and gelatin through the reaction of the Schiff base, which significantly enhanced the mechanical properties, the stress and strain of NAH reached 266.47 KPa and 2175.

EGFR inhibitors are a class of targeted therapies utilized in the management of certain tumor kinds such as NSCLC and breast cancer. Series of 1,2,3-triazole-Schiff's base hybrids were designed, synthesized, and estimated for their antitumor effect toward breast cancer cells, MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231. The safety and selectivity of the new compounds were tested using normal cell (WI-38).

The locomotion of various organisms relies on the alternated elongation-contraction of their muscles or bodies. Such biomimicry can offer a promising approach to developing soft robotic devices with improved mobility and efficiency. Most strategies to mimic such motions rely on reversible size modifications of some materials upon exposure to external stimuli.
