Haff disease is a type of human rhabdomyolysis characterized by the sudden onset of unexplained muscular rigidity and an elevated serum creatine kinase level within 24 h after consuming cooked aquatic products. Here, we reviewed a previous study on Haff disease and summarized the clinical manifestations, epidemiological characteristics, and etiological data to confirm the incidence and global epidemiology of the disease and identify the most common seafood vectors. Future directions for Haff disease study will include further prospective etiological studies and the development of prevention and control strategies.

The adaptive immune system holds invaluable information on past and present immune responses in the form of B and T cell receptor sequences, but we are limited in our ability to decode this information. Machine learning approaches are under active investigation for a range of tasks relevant to understanding and manipulating the adaptive immune receptor repertoire, including matching receptors to the antigens they bind, generating antibodies or T cell receptors for use as therapeutics, and diagnosing disease based on patient repertoires. Progress on these tasks has the potential to substantially improve the development of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics, as well as advance our understanding of fundamental immunological principles.

Background And Aims: Individuals with steatotic liver disease (SLD) are at high cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, but approaches to characterise and mitigate this risk are limited. By investigating relations, and shared metabolic pathways, of hepatic steatosis/fibrosis and cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), we sought to identify new avenues for CVD risk reduction in SLD.
Methods: In Framingham Heart Study (FHS) participants (N = 2722, age 54 ± 9 years, 53% women), vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) was performed between 2016-2019 to assess hepatic steatosis (continuous attenuation parameter [CAP]) and fibrosis (liver fibrosis measure [LSM]).

Background: Haff disease is a condition that has emerged in China in recent years, primarily associated with the consumption of crayfish. Despite its increasing incidence, the exact cause of Haff disease remains unknown, prompting further investigation into its potential triggers and risk factors. The purpose of this system review is to investigate and summarize the current understanding of Haff disease and provide insights into the etiology and pathogenesis of Haff disease by collecting and analyzing data from a large number of patients.

Background: Quantifying patient-reported pill disutility is important for understanding the risk-benefit tradeoffs of taking medications. The objective of this study was to quantify and compare the pill disutility associated with starting a new medication and continuing an existing medication for cardiometabolic disease prevention in a sample of older adults in the United States.
Methods: We enrolled adults aged ≥60 years from an online panel.
