The realisation that oral care for elder patients is very desirable and also necessary is only a few decades old. The earliest research was carried out in 1978. In the Netherlands and Flanders, research on oral care for the elderly began a few years later: the first doctoral degree in the field of gerodontology was awarded at the University of Nijmegen in 1989, after which more followed. In 2005, the BENECOMO was established, a Belgian-Dutch consortium in which geriatric dentists and specialists in healthcare for the elderly cooperate closely in research. A consequence of the cooperation has been, among other things, that gerodontology is now a broad professional field, which takes into consideration the importance of biomedical, psychological and social factors and a multidisciplinary approach, aiming at prevention.

The aim of this comparative study was to examine the possible benefits of a dedicated Orthopaedic Trauma Room (DOTR) and in the care of patients with proximal femur fractures. A retrospective study of all orthopaedic cases with a hip fracture from 2020 to 2022 at CHC Montlegia has been undertaken, the group is compared to patients with the same impairment from 2018-2020 admitted to Saint Joseph/Esperance CHC hospitals (before the merge and the existence of a DOTR). The delay between the arrival at the emergency department and transfer to the operating room, as well as the mortality are evaluated.

Background: Dysbiosis of the lung microbiome can contribute to the initiation and progression of lung cancer. Synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (sMPLC) is an increasingly recognized subtype of lung cancer characterized by high morbidity, difficulties in early detection, poor prognosis, and substantial clinical challenges. However, the relationship between sMPLC pathogenesis and changes in the lung microbiome remains unclear.

Background: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and immune checkpoint inhibitors have shown favorable therapeutic effects in recurrent or metastatic or locally advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (R/M/LA HNSCC). However, the effects of immunotherapy in HNSCC are still inconsistent because of complicating factors. This meta-analysis tries to provide a more precise assessment of the efficacy and safety of this integrated approach in HNSCC.

Introdution: Although oral and dental diseases may occur in unexpected or even emergency conditions, but some of the diagnosis and treatments can be algorithmically done following some guidelines. The development and implementation of a system that provides users with a record of history and a proposal of required actions can be not only efficiently practical, but also virtually simple.
Materials And Method: A system made up of web and mobile apps is proposed and evaluated for screening and self-care of oral and dental problems and for providing advice on dental emergencies and therapeutic measures.
