Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) affects millions globally, with traditional treatments like proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and surgical fundoplication presenting challenges such as long-term medication dependency and disturbing long term side effects following surgery. This review explores emerging, alternative therapies that offer less invasive, personalized alternatives for GERD management. Endoscopic approaches, including Stretta therapy, transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), and endoscopic full-thickness plication (EFTP), demonstrate promising but also controversial outcomes in symptom relief and reduced acid exposure.

A comprehensive pharmacovigilance surveillance on antibacterials is lacking. This study aims to investigate safety signals of antibacterial-related adverse drug events (ADEs) with seriousness and to identify predictors of serious ADEs. This study investigated 52,503 antibacterial-induced ADEs reported to the Korea Adverse Event Reporting System Database from January 2013 to December 2022.

The development of bio-based flame retardants has garnered significant attention, however, significant challenges remain in achieving efficient flame retardancy and eco-friendly preparation methods. Herein, we propose a facile, atomic-efficient, and eco-friendly strategy for synthesizing a trinity chitosan-based flame retardant, phosphite-protonated chitosan (PCS). The chemical structure was systematically analyzed and the impact of varying degrees of protonation on the dissolution behavior and rheological properties were investigated.

Background: In sinonasal cancer (SNC), treatment with proton therapy (PT) provides excellent local control, especially after gross total resection. Because of the heterogeneity and rarity of this disease site, a comprehensive assessment of toxicity, survival, and control rates is lacking. Our primary objective was to assess the toxicity outcomes of PT in SNC patients, with a secondary aim of assessing survival and tumor control after PT.

Background/aims: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a chronic and recurrent condition requiring constant dietary management and medication. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of HIP1601, a dual delayed-release formulation of esomeprazole, in patients with GERD in a clinical setting.
Methods: This prospective, multicenter, observational study was conducted at 309 medical institutions in Korea between June 2021 and March 2023.
