Two natural mixtures, fermented extract (BGE) and cannabinol oil extract (CBD), were assessed for their ability to inhibit and remove biofilms on soft contact lenses in comparison to a multipurpose Soft Contact Lens-care solution present on the Italian market. (ATCC 9027 strain) and clinical strains isolated from ocular swabs were tested. Quantification of the biofilm was done using the microtiter plate assay and the fractional inhibitory concentration index was calculated. Both forms of generated biofilms. BGE at minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) showed inhibition percentages higher than 55% for both strains, and CBD inhibited biofilm formation by about 70%. The care solution at MIC inhibited biofilm formation by about 50% for both strains tested. The effect of BGE on the eradication of the microbial biofilm on soft contact lenses at MIC was 45% eradication for ATCC 9027 and 36% for clinical strain. For CBD, we observed 24% biofilm eradication for both strains. For the care solution, the eradication MICs were 43% eradication for ATCC 9027 and 41% for clinical strain. It was observed that both the test soft contact lenses solution/BGE (fractional inhibitory concentration index: 0.450) and the test soft contact lenses solution/CBD (fractional inhibitory concentration index: 0.153) combinations exhibited synergistic antibiofilm activity against most of the studied bacteria. The study showed that BGE and CBD have good effect on inhibition of biofilm formation and removal of preformed biofilms, which makes them promising agents that could be exploited to develop more effective care solutions.

Importance: For myopia control to be beneficial, it would be important that the benefit of treatment (slowed eye growth) is not lost because of faster than normal growth (rebound) after discontinuing treatment.
Objective: To determine whether there is a loss of treatment effect (rebound) after discontinuing soft multifocal contact lenses in children with myopia.
Design, Setting, And Participants: The Bifocal Lenses in Nearsighted Kids 2 (BLINK2) cohort study involved children with myopia (aged 11-17 years at BLINK2 baseline) who completed the BLINK Study randomized clinical trial.

River quality management involves complex challenges due to inherent uncertainties in various parameters, especially when dealing with controllable and uncontrollable pollutants. This study integrates a finite volume approach, called SEF (symmetric exponential function), with Monte Carlo simulations in MATLAB to solve the advection-dispersion equation, focusing on evaluating river quality protection tools by considering failure probability (P). Critical specifications for maintaining reliable river ecosystem performance are identified.

Purpose: To determine the effects of K18 quaternary ammonium methacryloxy silane (QAS) on tissue conditioner materials and their antimicrobial properties.
Methods: 30% K18 QAS in methyl methacrylate (MMA; K18-MMA; 0%, 15%, and 20% w/w) was incorporated into a commercial tissue conditioner (Coe comfort). The degree of curing (Shore A hardness), hydrophilicity (contact angle), flow, liquid sorption, mass loss, and antimicrobial properties of Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sanguinis, and Candida albicans were determined.

Objective: Titanium surface modifications improve osseointegration in dental and orthopedic implants. However, soft tissue cells can also reach the implant surface in immediate loading protocols. While previous research focused on osteogenic cells, the early response of soft tissue cells still needs to be better understood.

System-level wearable electronics require to be flexible to ensure conformal contact with the skin, but they also need to integrate rigid and bulky functional components to achieve system-level functionality. As one of integration methods, folding integration offers simplified processing and enhanced functionality through rigid-soft region separation, but so far, it has mainly been applied to modality of electrical sensing and stimulation. This paper introduces a vialess heterogeneous skin patch with multi modalities that separates the soft region and strain-robust region through folded structure.
