Several Gold's reagents were synthesized from cyanuric chloride and ,-dialkylformamides. These synthetic equivalents of ,-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal were used in an optimized and scalable procedure for the regioselective synthesis of a variety of enaminones from ketone starting materials, whose utility was demonstrated by the stereoselective synthesis of Rawal-type dienes.

Since the beginning of this century, there has been a great deal of research on homogeneous gold-catalyzed alkyne fluorination due to the precious values of fluorinated scaffolds in many bioactive natural products, drugs, and agrochemicals. This area of research, which originally took advantage of gold's mild Lewis acidity and tendency to form π-complexes with alkynes, has gained new momentum after Sadighi's discovery in 2007 of Au-catalyzed hydrofluorination of internal alkynes. The methods have enabled direct access to valuable fluoroalkanes, fluoroalkenes, α-fluorocarbonyls, and fluorinated carbo- and hetero-cycles in one pot from readily available alkyne precursors.

Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) affects economically important livestock and is one of the most contagious viral diseases. The most commonly used FMD diagnostic assay is a sandwich ELISA. However, the main disadvantage of this ELISA is that it requires anti-FMD virus (FMDV) serotype-specific antibodies raised in small animals.

As a well-known environmental pollutant but also an important gaseous transmitter, the specific detection of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is significant in biological systems. In this study, fluorosurfactant functionalized gold nanorods (FSN-AuNRs) have been proposed to act as selective colorimetric nanoprobes for H2S. With the combination of strong gold-S interactions and small FSN bilayer interstices, FSN-AuNRs demonstrate favorable selectivity and sensitivity toward H2S over other anions and small biological molecules.

Purpose: EURAMOS-1, an international randomized controlled trial, investigated maintenance therapy with pegylated interferon alfa-2b (IFN-α-2b) in patients whose osteosarcoma showed good histologic response (good response) to induction chemotherapy.

Patients And Methods: At diagnosis, patients age ≤ 40 years with resectable high-grade osteosarcoma were registered. Eligibility after surgery for good response random assignment included ≥ two cycles of preoperative MAP (methotrexate, doxorubicin, and cisplatin), macroscopically complete surgery of primary tumor, < 10% viable tumor, and no disease progression.
