Published: January 1968

Crystalline 3---d-glucopyranosyl--d-arabinopyranose monohydrate, mp 120 to 121 °C, and 3---d-gluecopyranosyl--d-arabinopyranose, mp 155 to 157 °C, were prepared from a sirup obtained by the Ruff degradation of calcium maltobionate. For the monohydrate, , and for the anhydrous form, . The structure of the sugar was established by converting it into maltose. Treatment of the form with pyridine-acetic anhydride gave a heptaacetate, mp 127 to 128 °C, ( 2.5, chloroform). The form gave a heptaacetate, mp 194.5-195.5° C, ( 2.5, chloroform).

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are highly valued for their unique properties and potential applications, as they can display exotic behaviors differing from those of their bulk forms. Research on elementary and binary solids has been making great progress recently, while synthesizing multi-component 2D materials experimentally remains a challenge, despite the possibility of greatly extending the number of members of the 2D realm. In this study, we synthesized ternary BiTeX (X = Cl, Br, I) nanosheets with high crystallinity through an electrochemical exfoliation method.

Preparation and Adsorption Properties of Sodium Trimetaphosphate Crosslinked Porous Corn Starch.

Biopolymers

March 2025

Guangxi Key Laboratory of Natural Polymer Chemistry and Physics, College of Chemistry and Materials, Nanning Normal University, Nanning, People's Republic of China.

The crosslinked porous corn starch was prepared by two steps: the native corn starch was hydrolyzed by α-amylase and glucoamylase, then the porous corn was crosslinked by sodium trimetaphosphate (STMP). The morphology and size of granules, spherulites, crystal type, molecular structure, swelling properties, thermal stability and adsorption properties of the crosslinked porous starch were investigated. The results indicated that a lot of holes formed in the porous starch, and the particle size of starch granules decreased.

Novel Nonaqueous PD/PZ/NMP Absorbent for Energy-Efficient CO Capture: Insights into the Crystal-Phase Regulation Mechanism of the Powdery Product.

Environ Sci Technol

January 2025

School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Municipal Solid Waste Recycling Technology and Management, Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen 518055, China.

Solid-liquid biphasic absorbents are a promising solution for overcoming the high-energy consumption challenge faced by liquid amine-based CO capture technologies. However, their practical applications are often hindered by difficulties in separating viscous solid-phase products. This study introduces a novel nonaqueous absorbent system (PD/PZ/NMP) composed of 4-amino-1-methylpiperidine (PD), piperazine (PZ), and -methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), engineered to produce easily separable powdery products.

Nowadays, benzimidazole and its derivatives are widely assembled into multifunctional materials with various properties such as mechanochromism, photochromism, thermochromism and electrochromism. Herein, two novel zinc(II) coordination compounds, [Zn(L)Br]·2HO (1) and [Zn(L)Cl]·2HO (2) (L = tetra(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)ethene), have been constructed one-pot facile synthesis from bis(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)methane (L) and zinc(II) salts. The ligand L with a CC double bond was formed by C-C coupling of two sp-C atoms of L in solvothermal synthesis, which provides a new strategy to generate the conjugation system conveniently.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs), containing five or more elements in equal proportions, have recently made significant achievements in materials science due to their remarkable properties, including high toughness, excellent catalytic, thermal, and electrical conductivity, and resistance to wear and corrosion. This study focuses on a HEA composed of 23Fe-21Cr-18Ni-20Ti-18Mn, synthesized via ball milling. The alloy was treated with hydrochloric acid (HCl) to enhance its active surface area.
