Background: Patients with end-stage renal disease often face prolonged waiting times for kidney transplants. Historically, the use of marginal kidneys was limited due to suboptimal preservation methods. Normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) preserves physiological activity during the preservation process, potentially improving graft function and viability, expanding the use of marginal kidneys.

Non-cryo and hypothermic preservations are two available options for short-term storage of living cells. For long-term cell storage, cryopreservation is an essential procedure as it prolongs the storage time, allowing for the transport and testing of cells, as well as the establishment of cell banks. But it is unclear whether cryopreservation reduces the therapeutic effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hucMSCs) on osteoarthritis (OA).

Introduction: Graft optimization is a necessity in order to develop uterus transplantation from brain-dead donors, as a complement to living donors, as these grafts are rare and the last organs retrieved in multiple organ donation. The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and interest of hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) in uterus transplantation using a porcine model; secondary outcomes were the evaluation of the graft's tolerance to a prolonged cold ischaemia time and to find new biomarkers of uterus viability.
Material And Methods: Fifteen uterus allotransplantations were performed in a porcine model, after 18 h of cold ischaemia, divided in three groups: Static cold storage in a HTK solution, HMP (with the VitaSmart (™) machine Bridge to Life Ltd.

Background: Cardiac surgery can lead to dysregulation with a pro-inflammatory state, resulting in adverse outcomes. Hemadsorption using the AN69 membrane (Oxiris membrane) has the properties to chelate inflammatory cytokines. We hypothesized that in patients at high risk of inflammation, the use of the Oxiris membrane could decrease inflammation, preserve endothelial function, and improve postoperative outcomes.

Aim: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies, which is commonly treated with curative surgical resection, often leading to intraoperative hypothermia. Therefore, this study aimed to compare and analyze the risk factors for intraoperative hypothermia associated with laparoscopic and open CRC resections under general anesthesia.
Methods: This study included 120 CRC patients admitted between January 2023 and January 2024.
