Unlabelled: The ocular surface microbiome, unlike that of the skin or gut, has not been well characterized. Culture experiments historically suggested a nearly sterile ocular surface, but initial application of molecular methods such as 16S ribosomal RNA and high-throughput sequencing demonstrated a surprisingly rich ocular surface microbiome. However, a major limitation in studying such a low-biomass niche is the potential for artifactual results when amplification-based techniques such as ribosomal polymerase chain reaction and shotgun sequencing are used.

Loneliness is linked to declining physical health across cardiovascular, inflammatory, metabolic, and cognitive domains. As a result, loneliness is increasingly being recognized as a public health threat, though the mechanisms that have been studied do not yet explain all loneliness-related health risk. Potential mechanisms include loneliness having 1.

Background: The sweat test using pilocarpine iontophoresis remains the gold standard for diagnosing cystic fibrosis, but access and reliability are limited by specialized equipment and insufficient sweat volume collected from infants and young children. These shortcomings lead to delayed diagnosis, limited point-of-care applications, and inadequate monitoring capabilities.
Methods: We created a skin patch with dissolvable microneedles (MNs) containing pilocarpine that eliminates the equipment and complexity of iontophoresis.

Artifactual hypoglycemia, defined as a discrepancy between different laboratory measurements and actual blood glucose levels, can occur due to clinical conditions affecting the capillary microcirculation leading to falsely low blood glucose assessment. Systemic sclerosis, hallmarked by auto-immunity, fibrosis of the skin and/or internal organs and small vessel vasculopathy, can interfere with capillary point-of-care (POC) glycemia measurements, leading to the misdiagnosis of hypoglycemia. We report an 87-year-old woman with recurrent, asymptomatic hypoglycemia of unknown cause.

There has been remarkable progress in the field of surgical pathology; however, histomorphology has remained the most important and essential tool of the surgical pathologist in everyday practice till now. It is surprising that the hematoxylin-eosin (H and E) stain, introduced more than a century ago, has still remained the gold standard stain for histological examination and diagnosis of human diseases. Besides different findings or clues observed in histopathology sections like inclusions, granules, grooving, globules, halo, or clearing, which would enable the pathologist to provide a precise and accurate diagnosis; observation of clear cells is one of the important findings and clue for reporting.
