Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy using oxygen-sensing implants can provide reliable and repeated measurements of the partial pressure of oxygen (pO) over a period of months or longer; however, it does not provide accurate information about the distribution of tissue oxygenation. While EPR imaging has the capability to provide spatially resolved oxygen data, it is time-consuming and not optimized for discrete number of implants. Previous reports suggest multi-site algorithms, which would require either the implants to be aligned in a certain way so as to deconvolve them using a linear magnetic field gradient or sparse imaging of the implants from a small number of 3D projections. In this paper, we present a simpler and much faster method to estimate the pO histogram from a composite, single-scan EPR spectrum measured without applying field gradients to separate the EPR signals from multiple randomly placed oxygen-sensing implants. The method is optimized for a discrete number of implants, validated using simulations, experimental phantoms and in animal models. The results established the composite spectral fitting algorithm as a reliable and robust tool for multi-site oximetry.

With the advances in technology, humans tend to explore the world underwater in a more constructive way than before. The appearance of an underwater object varies depending on depth, biological composition, temperature, ocean currents, and other factors. This results in colour distorted images and hazy images with low contrast.

Article Synopsis
  • This study focuses on finding alternative treatments for gastric cancer (GC) patients who cannot undergo surgery, particularly those with HER2 overexpression, which affects how treatment decisions are made.* -
  • Researchers analyzed sCT iodine maps from 101 GC patients to see if histogram analysis could predict HER2 status, examining various statistical parameters from these maps.* -
  • Results showed that certain histogram parameters were significantly lower in patients with HER2-positive tumors, suggesting the potential of sCT analysis in predicting HER2 status, with a notable area under the curve for the 99th percentile parameter.*

Musical sequences are correlated dynamical processes that may differ depending on musical styles. We aim to quantify the correlations through power spectral analysis of pitch sequences in a large corpus of musical compositions as well as improvised performances. Using a multitaper method we extend the power spectral estimates down to the smallest possible frequencies optimizing the tradeoff between bias and variance.

Objective: To assess the capability of determining the mixed chemical composition of urinary stones using spectral imaging properties of Dual Energy Computed Tomography (DECT) Gemstone Spectral Imaging (GSI) software.

Material And Methods: Twenty-six single and 24 mixed composition ex vivo urinary stones with known chemical composition determined by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) prior to this project were scanned with DECT imaging and GSI in vitro. The major components of the stones included Uric Acid (UA), Calcium Oxalate (CaOx), Calcium Phosphate (CaP), Magnesium Ammonium Phosphate (MAP), and Cystine (Cys).

Eddy Current-Based Delamination Imaging in CFRP Using Erosion and Thresholding Approaches.

Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is a composite material known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, stiffness, and corrosion and fatigue resistance, making it suitable for its use in structural components. However, CFRP can be subject to various types of damage, such as delamination, matrix cracking, or fiber breakage, requiring nondestructive evaluation to ensure structural integrity. In this context, damage imaging algorithms are important for assessing the condition of this material.
