: Despite recent decades' rapid advances in the management of patients with sepsis and septic shock, global sepsis mortality and post-acute sepsis morbidity rates remain high. Our aim was, therefore, to provide a first overview of sepsis care pathways as well as barriers and supportive conditions for optimal pre-clinical, clinical, and post-acute sepsis care in Germany. : Between May and September 2023, we conducted semi-structured, video-based, one-to-one pilot expert interviews with healthcare professionals representing pre-hospital, clinical, and post-acute care settings.

Prehospital emergency care is the primary stage in the treatment of critically ill patients, where efficient and accurate monitoring methods are crucial for patient survival and prognosis. End-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO) monitoring is a real-time, non-invasive method that can sensitively capture the status of respiratory, circulatory, and metabolic functions, particularly in the urgent and complex pre-hospital environment, a immediate detection and non-invasive method, can sensitively capture the respiratory, circulatory, and metabolic status of patients. It provides valuable guidance for rapid decision-making and precise interventions.

Laboratory-based high-sensitivity cardiac troponin testing has been the pillar for emergency stratification of suspected acute coronary syndrome for well over a decade. Point-of-care troponin assays achieving the requisite analytical sensitivity have recently been developed and could accelerate such assessment. This review summarises the latest assays and describes their potential diverse clinical utility in the emergency department, community healthcare, pre-hospital, and other hospital settings.
