Background: Machine learning (ML) is increasingly used to predict clinical deterioration in intensive care unit (ICU) patients through scoring systems. Although promising, such algorithms often overfit their training cohort and perform worse at new hospitals. Thus, external validation is a critical - but frequently overlooked - step to establish the reliability of predicted risk scores to translate them into clinical practice.

Background: Nasal discharge is one of the cardinal symptoms of chronic rhinosinusitis, impacting over 50% of patients. For patients with symptoms refractory to standard medical therapy, endoscopic sinus surgery is an option. The objective of this study is to characterize how nasal discharge improves after surgery in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis.

Background: Phlebotomy has been used as a non-pharmacological treatment for different types of diseases, regarding the philosophy of humors in traditional medicines, such as Persian Medicine. However, according to the narrow-approved indications for phlebotomy in Western Medicine, we aimed to systematically summarize high-level of evidence on safety and efficacy of phlebotomy in treatment of human diseases.
Methods: In this umbrella review, to identify meta-analysis studies of clinical trials on phlebotomy, four electronic databases, including PubMed, web of science, Scopus, and Cochran library were searched until Jun 18, 2022 with relevant keywords for 'phlebotomy' and 'meta-analysis' according to PRISMA guidelines and PICO questions.

Background: Evidence synthesis projects such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses are defined by the focal research question addressed through assemblage and analysis of all relevant literature. In complex intervention domains such as medical extended reality (MXR), there are a plethora of intervention factors that could be included in research questions, which define study inclusion criteria and, in turn, shape the generalizability of results. This article quantifies how recently published evidence syntheses of MXR interventions for pain management characterize the primary studies they assess.

Sustainable agricultural practices are essential to meet food demands for the increased population while minimizing the environmental impact. Considering rice as staple food for most of the world's population, it requires innovative approaches to ensure sustainable production. In this paper, we create a hypothesis that integrated nutrient management (INM) acts as a source of energy for microbes and improves the physical, chemical and biological properties of soils, but the current understanding of how soil microbiomes interact in integrated nutrient management toward mediating climate stress to support sustainable rice crop production is limited.
