Published: October 1988

We have isolated and sequenced a cDNA clone corresponding to human liver cytochrome b5 mRNA. The 760 base pair (bp) sequence contains the complete coding and 3' non-translated regions plus 52 bp of 5' non-translated sequence. The derived amino acid sequence showed that the previous assignment of several amino acids was in error. In addition, the sequence of the previously unknown COOH hydrophobic region has been obtained.

Background: Liver fibrosis is a serious global health issue, but current treatment options are limited due to a lack of approved therapies capable of preventing or reversing established fibrosis.

Aim: This study investigated the antifibrotic effects of a synthetic peptide derived from α-lactalbumin in a mouse model of thioacetamide (TAA)-induced liver fibrosis.

Methods: analyses were conducted to assess the physicochemical properties, pharmacophore features, and docking interactions of the peptide.

Cuproptosis Cell Death Molecular Events and Pathways to Liver Disease.

J Inflamm Res

January 2025

Department of Infectious Disease, Affiliated Jinhua Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Jinhua, People's Republic of China.

Chronic liver disease ranks as the 11th leading cause of death worldwide, while hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related mortality, representing a substantial risk to public health. Over the past few decades, the global landscape of chronic liver diseases, including hepatitis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), liver fibrosis, and HCC, has undergone substantial changes. Copper, a vital trace element for human health, is predominantly regulated by the liver.

In this work, we developed potential multifunctional agents to combat Alzheimer's disease. According to our strategy, fragments of tacrine and donepezil were merged in a unique hybrid structure. After successfully synthesizing the compounds, they were evaluated for their dual AChE/BuChE inhibitor potential and neuroprotector response using a glutamate-induced excitotoxicity model.

Plasma protein levels provide important insights into human disease, yet a comprehensive assessment of plasma proteomics across organs is lacking. Using large-scale multimodal data from the UK Biobank, we integrated plasma proteomics with organ imaging to map their phenotypic and genetic links, analyzing 2,923 proteins and 1,051 imaging traits across multiple organs. We uncovered 5,067 phenotypic protein-imaging associations, identifying both organ-specific and organ-shared proteomic relations, along with their enriched protein-protein interaction networks and biological pathways.

Heterotaxy syndrome is characterized by abnormal left-right arrangement of thoracoabdominal organs and is frequently associated with complex cardiac anomalies. However, cases with predominant extracardiac manifestations are increasingly recognized. This report describes a 20-year-old female of North African descent with consanguineous parentage, who presented with chronic cough and exertional dyspnea persisting over several years.
