SmartFlare technology allows detection of mRNA in single living cells. We studied the possibility of using SmartFlare nanoprobes for detection of small subsets of CD4 lymphocytes. It was found that SmartFlare allows detection of transcriptional master regulators of major CD4T helper subsets in living human lymphocytes. Nanoprobes labeled with Cy5 fluorophore were better detected by flow cytometry than nanoprobes labeled with Cy3. Appropriate time of lymphocyte incubation with SmartFlare probes was 24 h.

Gain-of-function variants in the voltage-gated sodium channel Nav1.7, encoded by the SCN9A gene, have previously been identified in patients with erythromelalgia, a clinical diagnosis defined by intermittent attacks of painful, hot, swollen, and red skin, predominantly involving the hands and feet. Symptoms are induced or aggravated by warming and relieved by cooling.

Background: Recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly enhanced the capabilities of endoscopic-assisted diagnosis for gastrointestinal diseases. AI has shown great promise in clinical practice, particularly for diagnostic support, offering real-time insights into complex conditions such as esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
Case Summary: In this study, we introduce a multimodal AI system that successfully identified and delineated a small and flat carcinoma during esophagogastroduodenoscopy, highlighting its potential for early detection of malignancies.

Immune dysfunction is one of the hallmarks of cancer and plays critical roles in immunotherapy resistance, but there is no serum biomarker that can be used to evaluate immune-dysfunction status of cancer patients. Here, we identified subtype-specific human endogenous retrovirus K102 envelope (HERV-K102-Env) with immunosuppressive activity in circulating blood as a novel serum immunosuppressive biomarker of cancer. We first generated monoclonal antibodies against K102-Env with high sensitivity and specificity, and we developed an ELISA assay to detect serum K102-Env.

The study of transient and variable events, including novae, active galactic nuclei, and black hole binaries, has historically been a fruitful path for elucidating the evolutionary mechanisms of our universe. The study of such events in the millimeter and submillimeter is, however, still in its infancy. Submillimeter observations probe a variety of materials, such as optically thick dust, which are hard to study in other wavelengths.

Background: Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) appears to share some pathomechanisms with metabolic syndrome (MS), such as proinflammatory state, increased oxidative stress, changes in adipokine profile, and coagulation system activation.
Aim And Objectives: To evaluate clinical and laboratory parameters of MS in CSU patients and to assess relationship of MS with duration and severity of CSU, Ig-E, thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), C-reactive protein (CRP), and autologous serum skin test (ASST).
Materials And Methods: A hospital-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 131 CSU cases and 131 controls who were age- and sex-matched.
