Ultrasound has been increasingly used in the musculoskeletal system, including the spine. In this protocol, the probe positionings, anatomical relationships, and ultrasound images of commonly scanned spinal structures are described. With an international consensus of several expert physiatrists i.e. USPRM; Ultrasound Study Group of ISPRM (International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine), this guide can provide a standardized approach for physicians who are interested in ultrasound diagnosis and guided pain interventions of the spine.

The ultrasound-guided cervical plexus plane (US-CPP) block has proven effective in humans; yet its application in dogs remains unexplored. This study aimed to describe a novel US-CPP approach in canines. A local sonoanatomy was mapped, the injection technique was tested, and a gross anatomical dissection (GAD) was performed on one cadaver.

Introduction: Spine fixation surgery for traumatic vertebral fractures is associated with severe pain and is often difficult to control. Traditionally systemic opioids have been the mainstay of analgesia for these procedures, which can lead to hyperalgesia, nausea, ileus, sedation, cognitive impairment, dependence, etc., limiting usage of opioids.

Introduction/aims: Severe spinal deformities and previous spinal orthopedic instrumentation may result in substantial technical challenges for nusinersen delivery through lumbar puncture in patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The aim of this paper was to review our experience with ultrasound-guided cervical puncture as an alternative approach for the intrathecal administration of nusinersen.
Methods: This was a retrospective medical record review of transverse interlaminar ultrasound-guided C1-C2 puncture for nusinersen delivery in SMA patients.

To develop a method of injecting a volume up to 50% of the lacrimal gland (LG) volume while minimizing patient discomfort and maximizing accurate drug delivery. Herein we describe a series of ultrasound (US)-guided transcutaneous injections in the LG and discuss the safety and feasibility of this technique. Ultrasonography was performed in 40 patients with aqueous deficient dry eye disease using a GE Logic E10 (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) US machine with a 6-24 MHz transducer.

Background: Inconsistent descriptions of Lumbar multifidus (LM) morphology were previously identified, especially in research applying ultrasonography (US), hampering its clinical applicability with regard to diagnosis and therapy. The aim of this study is to determine the LM-sonoanatomy by comparing high-resolution reconstructions from a 3-D digital spine compared to standard LM-ultrasonography.
Methods: An observational study was carried out.
