Extremity muscles are grouped and divided by strong fascial membranes into compartments. Multiple pathological processes can result in an increase in the pressure within a muscle compartment. An increase in the compartment pressure beyond the adequate perfusion pressure has the potential to cause extremity compartment syndrome. There are multiple sites where compartment syndrome can occur. In this article, an arm and forearm compartment syndrome ensued secondary to a minor crushing injury that lead to supracondylar and medial epicondylar non-displaced fractures. A pure motor radial and ulnar nerve deficits noted on presentation, worsened with progression of the compartment syndrome. Ultimately, a surgical fasciotomy was carried out to release all compartments of the right upper arm and forearm.

A free-floating disc shaped polycarbonate-urethane ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber reinforced medial compartment implant is designed for symptomatic postmedial meniscectomy syndrome. Because it is not sutured into place, an intact 2mm meniscus rim with intact anterior and posterior meniscal horns are required. In a recent 24-month follow-up study, only 64% of the original implants were retained.

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to review rates of infection after civilian ballistic fractures and assess the effect of early antibiotic administration (EAA) on infection rates.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study done at an urban Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients ages 16 years and older with ballistic orthopaedic extremity injuries between May 2018 and December 2020 were enrolled.

Purpose: This study was planned to evaluate limb survival and clinical outcomes of fasciotomies done before and after 24-48 h due to compartment syndrome in the extremities caused by crush injuries after the earthquakes in Turkey on February 6-7, 2023.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 129 extremities of 84 patients that underwent fasciotomy after the 2023 Turkey earthquakes in this single center study. Demographical data of patients, affected limb, time to fasciotomy, limb survival, number of debridements, necrotic muscle debridement, whether graft-flap was needed, and the need for hemodialysis were analyzed.

Snakebites caused by snakes are the most prevalent in the Amazon region, causing local and systemic complications. Local complications are mostly represented by necrosis, secondary bacterial infection and compartment syndrome. There are reports of long-term disabilities, but their burden is poorly investigated.

Snakebite envenomings continue to represent a major public health concern in Taiwan because of the presence of various venomous snakes whose habitats intersect with human activities. This review provides a comprehensive analysis of the clinical characteristics, complications, and management strategies associated with snakebite envenomings in Taiwan. Taiwan is inhabited by six principal venomous snakes: , , , , , and , each presenting distinct clinical challenges.
