Trying to capture all the details of multiple teeth preparation in one impression is challenging. Techniques have been suggested to extend the working time of an impression material. This article describes a segmental impression technique to accurately capture all the preparation margins while allowing additional impression-making time.

Cardiac strangulation with chronic ab-extrinseco occlusion of the left-circumflex artery from an epicardial lead: a case report.

Eur Heart J Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Radiological and Hematological Sciences, Section of Radiology, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Largo Agostino Gemelli 8 - 00168 Rome, Italy.

Background: Cardiac strangulation (CS) from epicardial pacing leads (EPLs) is a rare and potentially lethal mechanical complication associated with epicardial pacemaker (PM) implantation.

Case Summary: We report a case of a 44-year-old-female patient presenting with chest and left shoulder pain in the absence of reported trauma with history of congenital atrioventricular block treated with epicardial PM implantation during the childhood and subsequent transvenous reimplantation over the years. Troponin I resulted within normal values and ECG, transthoracic echocardiography and chest X-ray documented no acute cardiopulmonary findings.

Background: Recently it has been suggested that coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) may explain the high false-positive rate of exercise electrocardiographic stress testing (EST). However, patients with angina but non-obstructive coronary artery disease (ANOCA) present with a broader spectrum of coronary vasomotor dysfunction (CVDys), namely coronary artery spasm (CAS), CMD or a combination of both. We aim to investigate the diagnostic value of EST for the entire CVDys spectrum.

Background: Deep learning-based segmentation of brain metastases relies on large amounts of fully annotated data by domain experts. Semi-supervised learning offers potential efficient methods to improve model performance without excessive annotation burden.

Purpose: This work tests the viability of semi-supervision for brain metastases segmentation.

Background: Chronic cluster headache (CCH) is an excruciatingly painful condition that can be difficult to treat sufficiently with the available medical treatment options. The greater occipital nerves (GON) are of major interest in treating CCH, and various invasive treatment modalities, such as stimulating or blocking the nerves, have been applied. Because the terminal segment of the GON has a superficial course, the nerve is also accessible for non-invasive transcutaneous stimulation.

Background: Holistic review of applications may optimize recruitment of residents by seeking out characteristics best aligned with program culture. The goals of this mixed methods research were to engage residency recruitment stakeholders to develop a holistic scoring rubric, measure the correlation between the rubric score and the final global rating used to rank applicants for the National Resident Matching Program Match, and qualitatively analyze committee discussions at the end of the interview day about applicants for potential unconscious biases.

Methods: Forty stakeholders (32 faculty, 3 chief residents, and 5 administrative staff) completed an iterative consensus-driven process to identify the most highly valued applicant attributes, and a corresponding standardized question for each attribute.
