The protein therapeutics market, including antibody and fusion proteins, has experienced steady growth over the past decade, underscoring the importance of optimizing amino acid sequences. In our previous study, we developed a fusion protein, R31, which combines retinol-binding protein (RBP) with albumin domains IIIA and IB, linked by a sequence (AAAA), and includes an additional disulfide bond (N227C-V254C) in IIIA. This fusion protein effectively inhibited hepatic stellate cell activation.

Research Question: Are the combined genotypes and haplotypes of vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms (FokI, ApaI and TaqI) associated with susceptibility to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic features of the disease?

Design: This case-control study included 46 women with PCOS and 48 controls. Genotypes of the VDR gene were determined using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Waist circumference, and parameters of lipid and glucose metabolism were evaluated in all women.

To analyze whether combinations of polymorphisms within FSHR gene influence ovarian response (OR) to stimulation. A multicenter prospective cohort study was conducted from 11/2016-06/2019 in Europe and Asia including predicted normo-responders under 38y. Patients underwent ovarian stimulation using fixed-dose 150 IU rFSH in a GnRH antagonist protocol.

Design and synthesis of new energetic materials retains its urgency in chemistry and materials science. Herein, rational construction and regioselective synthesis of a series of energetic compounds comprising of a methylene-bridged combination of 1,2,5-oxadiazole and nitrogen-rich azoles (1,2,4-triazole and tetrazole) enriched with additional explosophoric functionalities (nitro and azo moieties) is presented. All target materials were thoroughly characterized using IR and multinuclear NMR (H, C, N, N) NMR spectroscopy, high-resolution mass spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry.

Out of and in East Asia: phylogeny, biogeography and diversification of Thalictroideae (Ranunculaceae) in the Northern Hemisphere.

State Key Laboratory of Plant Diversity and Specialty Crops, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100093, China.

Background And Aims: Understanding the biogeographical patterns and processes underlying the distribution of diversity within the Northern Hemisphere has fascinated botanists and biogeographers for over a century. However, as a well-known centre of species diversity in the Northern Hemisphere, whether East Asia acted as a source and/or a sink of plant diversity of the Northern Hemisphere remains unclear. Here, we used Thalictroideae, a subfamily widely distributed in the Northern Hemisphere with the majority of species in East Asia, to investigate the role of East Asia in shaping the biogeographical patterns of the Northern Hemisphere and to test whether East Asia acted as a museum or a cradle for herbaceous taxa.
