Repeated absorption of emitted photons, also called photon recycling, in large crystals and thick films of perovskites leads to delayed photoluminescence (PL) and decrease of PL intensity. The role of distinct band gaps, which act as donors and acceptors of energy, and nonradiative energy transfer on such delayed, low intensity emission is yet to be rationalized. Here we report delayed emission by nonradiative energy transfer across a distribution of energy states in close-packed crystallites of cesium lead bromide CsPbBr , formamidinium lead bromide FAPbBr , or the mixed halide FAPb(BrI) perovskite synthesized in the form of thick pellets by the piezochemical method. The PL lifetime of the bromide-rich domain in the mixed halide pellet is considerably decreased when compared with a pure FAPbBr pellet. Here the domains with higher bromide composition act as the energy donor, whereas the iodide-rich domains are the acceptors. Time-resolved PL measurements of CsPbBr , FAPbBr , and the mixed halide FAPb(BrI) perovskite pellets help us to clarify the role of nonradiative energy transfer on photon recycling.

Due to intrinsic defects in blue-light-emitting perovskite materials, the charge carriers are prone to being trapped by the trap states. Therefore, the preparation of efficient blue-light-emitting perovskite materials remains a significant challenge. Herein, CsPb(Cl/Br) nanocrystal (NCs)@SiO structures were fabricated through hydrolyzing (3-aminopropyl)-triethoxysilane (APTS).

Research on perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) has primarily focused on modulating crystal growth to achieve smaller grain sizes and defect passivation using organic additives. However, challenges remain in controlling the intermolecular interactions between these organic additives and perovskite precursor ions for precise modulation of crystal growth. In this study, we synthesize two triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO)-based multidentate additives: bidentate hexane-1,6-diyl-bis(oxy-4-triphenylphosphine oxide) (2-TPPO) and tetradentate pentaerythrityl-tetrakis(oxy-4-triphenylphosphine oxide) (4-TPPO).

Light-harvesting complex II (LHCII), the most abundant membrane protein in photosystem II, plays dual roles, i.e., efficient light harvesting and energy transfer to the reaction center under low light conditions and dissipating excess energy as heat to prevent photodamage under high irradiation conditions.

Polythiophene donors offer scalable and cost-effective solutions for the organic photovoltaic industry. A thorough understanding of the structure-property-performance relationship is essential for advancing polythiophene-based organic solar cells (PTOSCs) with high power conversion efficiencies (PCEs). Herein, we develop two polythiophene donors─PTTz-CN and PTTz-CN(T2)─to verify the energy loss-quantum efficiency relationship.

Dion-Jacobson (DJ) perovskites are promising alternatives for Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) perovskites to fabricate blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) due to their favorable structural and charge properties. However, the relatively weak hydrogen bond between the bridging diammonium group and perovskite poses huge challenges for regulating crystallization and defect density, leading to an undesirable film quality and device performance. Herein, we report the successful optimization of DJ perovskite films by introducing a new type of cesium octafluoroadipate (CsOFAA) precursor, which could strongly anchor the perovskite through coordination bonds and halogen-halogen bonds.
