Terpenes are naturally produced compounds with a broad range of biological activities. Currently, there is limited information regarding the anthelminthic effect of terpenes against monogenean parasites of fish. The aim of this work was to evaluate the in vitro efficacy of two terpenes [α-terpinene and (+)-limonene oxide] against ancyrocephalid monogeneans found on farmed Nile tilapia (). (+)-Limonene oxide was more effective in killing these parasites than α-terpinene, with 86 and 90% mortality at concentrations of 36 and 55.4 mg/L, respectively, with a 5-h treatment. The estimated 5-h EC of (+)-limonene oxide was 4.8 mg/L. Even though this compound has the potential to be used as an anthelmintic compound in finfish aquaculture, before in vivo experiments are performed, additional studies are needed to find a more effective concentration, as well as to evaluate other terpenic compounds.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disease that can lead to complications affecting multiple organs, including the liver. Gegen Qinlian Decoction (GQD) has demonstrated considerable efficacy in the management of T2DM and its complications in accordance with the tenets of modern Chinese medicine. However, the molecular mechanism by which GQD alleviates diabetic liver injury is unclear.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a relatively common fungal infectious disease in the female reproductive tract. The pathogenesis of VVC not only involves Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection, but also the improper immune response of the vaginal mucosal immune system to the fungus.

Globally, traumatic injuries and severe hemorrhagic wounds resulting from natural disasters, wars, traffic accidents, and operation rooms, especially during birth, are among the most difficult humanitarian and economic problems. Thus, the priority in emergency medical treatment is reducing unexpected blood loss, which can significantly influence a patient's rescue and recovery speed. For the immediate cessation of bleeding in severe hemorrhagic wounds and to speed up their healing, environmentally friendly γ-ionizing irradiation technology was used to develop innovative natural-based hydrogels impregnated with traditional medicinal plant extracts (MPE) with proven hemostatic and bactericidal potential as potential dressings for hemostasis, infection control, and wound healing.

Natural Xanthine oxidase (XOD) inhibitors represent promising therapeutic agents for hyperuricemia (HUA) treatment due to their potent efficacy and favorable safety profiles. This study involved the construction of a comprehensive database of 315 XOD inhibitors and development of 28 machine learning-based QSAR models. The ChemoPy light gradient boosting machine model exhibited the best performance (AUC = 0.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that is significantly characterized by cognitive and memory impairments, which worsen significantly with age. In the late stages of AD, metal ion disorders and an imbalance of reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels occur in the brain microenvironment, which causes abnormal aggregation of β-amyloid (Aβ), leading to a significant worsening of the AD symptoms. Therefore, we designed a composite nanomaterial of macrophage membranes-encapsulated Prussian blue nanoparticles (PB NPs/MM).
